Ben Carson to tell supporters he sees no ‘path forward’ for campaign [will not debate]
Washington Post ^ | 03/02/2016 | Robert Costa

Ben Carson, the retired neurosurgeon who briefly led the Republican presidential race before his campaign began an extended public implosion, will tell his supporters in a statement Wednesday afternoon that he does not see a "path forward" and will not attend Thursday's debate in Detroit, according to two Republicans familiar with his plans.

Carson, however, will not formally suspend his campaign. Instead, the Republicans said, he has decided to make a speech about his political future on Friday at the Conservative Political Action Conference in Maryland, just outside of Washington.

But the announcement will serve as an acknowledgment that Carson's candidacy is all but over following a disappointing showing in the 11 states that held contests on Tuesday.

I don’t begrudge that. He’s just not the one I ever considered because of his ‘regional consideration of where live” as being the criterion for whether you can own a certain type of gun.

Lack of management experience did not stop Obama nor has it stopped Cruz or Rubio.

ESTABLISHMENT offered CARSON a run for the FLORIDA SENATE SEAT. Period.

You are soo correct. If he declines, then his listless run will have raised his profile, and his fee, for selling books and speeches in the future.

He turns out to be a deal maker of his own as it turns out.

“I would like to see Ben as part of Trump’s Cabinet”

I would have to but Ben dissed Trump earlier. I think the pressure from the GOPe is very intense.

“Carson, however, will not formally suspend his campaign.”

Of course not. If he suspended his campaign, he wouldn’t be able to keep spending his campaign contributions on travel, hotels, meals at restaurants, etc.

That was probably forty or more years ago. You must be young. Us older folks understand that wounds can heal and actions forgiven. If my child needed brain surgery Carson would be at the top of the list to do the work. Don’t care what he did in the 60’s.

I’m married to one that will go to Trump now. Trump’s right when he says he’ll get some of others votes. One I know but you might ask how many others.

Not a certainty that Carson’s sliver of supporters will ever go to IOWA stealing Cruz. TRUMP defended Carson on that fiasco for his own reasons, but he did defend Carson, and Carson voters may show their appreciation.

But, does 2% mean anything?

how about if we let the people vote, okay, bud? Because I hate to break it to you trumpeters...the day Rubio leaves the race is the same day Trump loses the nomination. In a head to head, he loses to Cruz...badly.

Carson supporters will not show their appreciation to the guy who called him a sociopath and compared him to a child molester.

The fact he brought up such a story is what is the concern. We older guys know that such things are a sign of immaturity.

I have a friend in Illinois and she said that if Carson doesn’t get the nomination, she’s going to put him in as a write-in candidate.
