For months now, Donald Trump has spouted the same line on immigration, promising to build a border wall and deport people here illegally. Last night, he admitted he would not deport the 11 million people in the United States illegally....
Trump appeared on Sean Hannity's show.... Here's the key transcript:
"We had a board meeting [at the New York Times], it was off-the-record, suddenly they leak it..." Trump said."They said it's negotiable on the wall," Hannity said...
"By the way it is negotiable. Things are negotiable," Trump said.
Trump was quick to add that the negotiation does not include nixing the idea altogether.
"Building it? Not negotiable."
"Would it be negotiable about the 11 million?" Hannity pressed. "Maybe let some people stay if they register in a period of time?"
"I would say this," Trump added, "we will work out some system that's fair, but we either have a country or we don't. We need a border. We need a wall."
Here's Rubio at the CNN debate last week:
before we do anything on immigration, we are going to secure the border. And, that's not just the physical border with Mexico, it's Visa overstays. That's 45 percent of the problem right there.It also has to do -- that's why we need e-verify, and entry-exit tracking system, and so-forth. And, until that happens, we're not doing anything else. And then we'll see what the American people are willing to support";
Those are exactly the same positions - build the wall, then figure out what to do with the people already here. There is literally no daylight between the Rubio and Trump positions on immigration.

He was the strongest candidate on the ballot. CRUZ supporters actually believing he has a path to the WH is as delusional as the notion that Trump will not be negotiating. There is NO WAY Cruz can win the presidency. His appeal is very limited.
It’s TRUMP or bust.
any principle, I was attempting to illustrate that principle is important. You can take it to mean Immigration Policy, the Wall, economic, education, taxes, and the Supreme court. With his statement that every principle is open to negotiation he has fundamentally transformed the word, or misinterpreted its meaning.
Trump cuts deals. He will grant amnesty if he is provided enough tribute to make him look good.
“They are so blinded by their love of Trump that they cannot see they are being duped.”
Bring on the dup-age-ness.
“Building it? Not negotiable.”
“Would it be negotiable about the 11 million?” Hannity pressed. “Maybe let some people stay if they register in a period of time?”
“I would say this,” Trump added, “we will work out some system that’s fair, but we either have a country or we don’t. We need a border. We need a wall.”
But I will vote for Trump if he is the nominee.
Despite all the spin doctors, I actually believe Trump will:
1) Build the wall/fence.
2) Deport the illegal's, providing a legal path back for immigrants who would strengthen America.
Some of the minor details of that will be worked out...but in essence I believe that is his plan and believe that he will work to make that happen.
Good point. Why "work out some system that's fair", when we already have one.
Deport them and let them go to the back of the quota line.
Assertion is not fact! If you bothered to look into Trump position on his website I think you will see a vast difference. In this interview Trump is acknowledging Congess has a role!
It is a fact of life that all those running for political office lie. It is a defining characteristic. Some lies are subtle while others are very bold. No one should take a politicians statement at face value or fall asleep while contradictory statements are discussed.
The only fair way they return is if they leave without being deported and get in line back at home behind all the people who have been trying to enter legally.
I can see negotiations about how to get them all out, but there should be no negotiations or fast tracks back for anyone that entered our country illegally.
“Is Trumpster a personal attack?”
Does the shoe fit?
He is going to build a knee wall.
YAWN, I’m waiting for the media to exclaim that he has a 666 tattoo on his head and that’s why his hair is like that to cover it up.
If this issue has any impact at all it will be to give Trump a boost with Hispanics.
If this is a question about illegals in general, there’s a lot of problems that need fixing. How many states allow illegals to get driver’s licenses, food stamps, in-state college tuition, and so on?
We need to turn that stuff off. I’m all for a wall too, but the other thing that needs to happen is simply making our country less hospitable to illegals. It’s like a flame and a moth; turn the damn light off, the moths stop coming.
Schwarzenegger on steroids, no pun intended. You don’t know what you are going to get with Trump. It depends on what the definition of “fair” is on any particular day.
If they were closed off to driver’s licenses, welfare, educational benefits and work this problem would be over.
He just admitted on Hannity that aspects of deportation and the wall are negotiable.

JEFF SESSIONS: DONALD TRUMPS IMMIGRATION POLICY IS EXACTLY THE PLAN AMERICA NEEDS
Sen. Jeff Sessions, the intellectual leader of the conservative movement and chairman of the Senate Judiciary Committees subcommittee on Immigration and the National Interest, issued a statement on Sunday afternoon praising 2016 Republican frontrunner Donald Trumps immigration policy plan for America.
This is exactly the plan America needs, Sessions said in response to Trumps plan. Not only would the plan outlined in this paper work, but more quickly than many realize.
Most importantly, this plan reestablishes the principle that Americans immigration laws should serve the interests of its own citizens.
For too long, immigration reform plans in Washington have served the special interests at the expense of working Americans. By contrast, this plan puts the needs of working Americans foremost, and develops an effective strategy for improving their wages and job prospects.
Crucially, this plan includes an emphasis on lifting struggling minority communities, including our immigrant communities, out of poverty by preventing corporations from bringing in new workers from overseas to replace them and drive down wages.
When the labor market is oversupplied, it tilts the balance of power away form workers and towards employers. In combination with a smart, fair trade policy this proposal would reinvigorate the middle class.
Polling shows this plan will appeal broadly to all segments of the electorate: prioritizing the just demands of loyal, everyday Americans who have been shunned by a governing elite.
Trumps plan is designed to put American workers first, and calls for halting of green cards until Americans are employed againand pushes for a significant slowdown in the issuance of donor-class-craved H-1B visas, which have been used by many companies like Disney and Southern California Edison among others to replace Americans with cheaper, foreign workers.
Trump consulted Sessions in putting together the plan, and now that he has the support of such an influential lawmaker whos the key leader in Congress on this issue, its unlikely that anyone will ever be able to legitimately criticize him for lack of substance again.
Trump is currently the runaway Republican frontrunner, and as the months between now and voting slip away, predictions that hed fall apart keep falling short.

“If Trump is willing to negotiate on Principle is it really a principle?”
If you have more than one ‘principle’, then the ‘principles’ can be in conflict. Sometimes ‘principles’ must be balanced. Tradeoffs made. Negotiations done.
