The last time postage went down was 1919.

No wonder the stamps you buy now say FOREVER.

FOREVER stamps are the best thing the post office ever implemented.

I might not be the only person to ask this question, but what is the rate now?

Not a big deal. USPS just jacked the prices on priority mail and exploded air mail prices.

49 cents for 1 oz first class card or letter, but there are complicated surcharges for odd sized envelopes, too thick, too thin, etc.

Few people use the mail for letters any more.
The prices on packages on the other especially those going overseas have shot though the roof.
Most of us use the mail for packages and for the small mail order business this has been a killer.

48 cents.
I'm an old-fashioned letter-writer. I may be the only person in America keeping the USPS in business.
Sorry about that.

Thus the relation bust hits the economy as everyone waits until April to mail their Easter cards. Does anyone want to buy my Forever stamps I invested in instead of gold?

“Forever”?
That’s a LONG time.
Can the Post Office really keep THAT promise?

Right. But I’m still working on my 48-cent Forever stamps. I thought it might be a good investment....

Equivalent postage for all!
Moderate ALL postage for every item sent by USPS and watch what happens!
The4 amount of “junk mail” sent under “bulk postage rules” will decrease. The revenue for the USPS will increase. The volume of junk-mail will decrease and, among advertisers, the amount of REAL mail will moderate.
IOW, eliminate BULK RATES for advertisers / marketers.

I'm an old-fashioned letter-writer. That is one of the sad results of the Digital Age. No longer will families cleaning out a dresser or attic come across a stack of love letters or correspondence from a parent/grand-parent/etc.
