A suspicious package wrapped like a present found Monday morning near the Windsor Town Green was blasted apart with water by the sheriffs bomb squad, according to the Sonoma County Sheriffs Office.
It turned out to be a box of chocolates from the gourmet food company, Harry and David.
A person reported the box at 9:35 a.m., telling Windsor officers theyd seen it in a planter box near the town library. The person had lifted it and felt it was heavy, Windsor Police Chief Chris Spallino said.
It was wrapped like a Christmas present with a bow on it, Spallino said.
Officers evacuated that area of the public green, including a few people walking their dogs and maintenance workers, the chief said.
Members of the Sonoma County sheriffs bomb squad donned protective gear and x-rayed the box where it sat but couldnt get a clear vision of all of it.
Sheriffs Sgt. Cecile Focha said the deputies determined it was unlikely the box was dangerous and used a blast of water to break it apart.
It was a package of candy. Chocolates, Spallino said.
Focha said the response lasted less than an hour. While it ended up being nothing dangerous, we couldnt possibly know that without responding in a responsible manner, she said in a news release.

I hope that Harry&David step up to replace this tragedy!
Praline What's this one: 'Spring Surprise'?
Milton Ah - now, that's our speciality - covered with darkest creamy chocolate. When you pop it into your mouth steel bolts spring out and plunge straight through both cheeks.
That’s a terrible thing to do to chocolate.
Ya never know what ya gon’ get.
