One step closer to taxing the air we breathe.
Its a leftist, progressive, proto-fascist slush fund for government and its cronies employees, and hangers-on. That’s all.
carbon emission tax?
excellent!
let’s put meters on all politicians and demand they pay the tax, due on the spot, after every 10 minutes.

Scouts Out! Cavalry Ho!
Can I ask a stupid question??
Why do we set out to tax certain things, based on what someone thinks is a good thing for society?
Liberals seem to want to do this a lot. But conservatives have their issues with taxing certain things, tax breaks for other activities deemed good for society.
What I’m trying to say is, what about if we had some tax codes which had the goal of raising revenue to pay for the essential functions of government, but did not set out to punish certain things or reward others?
For example, this carbon tax wants to punish carbon output.
Cigarette taxes theoretically are to discourage smoking, and in some places, are used for health programs.
Various business tax breaks will encourage investment in certain geographic areas or certain lines of business.
Various deductions and exemptions related to home ownership are to encourage home ownership as good for society.
Off topic, but what if instead of doing the global warming taxes, which come on top of so many other taxes deemed to push one activity or another, let’s rebuild the tax code to collect only what is necessary, and not be set up to encourage or discourage anything???
SOMETHING is driving the price of gasoline in California...it is dollar above the national average, not even including the annual summer increase (another 30 cents) hitting this weekend.
So who is getting that extra dollar? Three years ago they blamed it on a refinery fire - markets adjust...other refineries pick up the demand, refineries get repaired (and in much less time than 3 years). How come NO DROP IN PRICE?
But no ones asks those questions...I suspect that California’s ‘carbon tax’ may have a lot to do with it.
One last note - a $1.00 increase in the price gives the government $15 Billion in hard money to play with - note how there’s no talk about the state going broke.
(sorry for going off-topic a bit, but this is really annoying me)
OK!! Everybody pay attention!
Lesson for today:
1. The sun is 1,300,000 times as big as the earth.
2. The sun is a giant nuclear furnace that controls the climates of all its planets.
3. The earth is one of the suns planets.
4. The earth is a speck in comparison to the size of the sun.
5. Inhabitants of the earth are less than specks.
Study Question: How do less-than-specks in congress plan to control the sun?

Somebody needs to tell Boing about all the SAC airbases that the progressives have closed over the past 20 years that are located in business friendly states and are primed for development.
So is $25/ton emission just for CO2 or for the water emitted also? If both I estimated it to be about 30¢ per gallon. To bad the authors couldn't be clear about the tax on the source side rather than the emmission side. I wonder why they want to bury it.
Some guy was convicted of First Degree Murder in WA State and received the Maximum Penalty, 29 Years.
If there are any FReepers left up there, is that the Maximum? Is there no Death Penalty or Life without Parole there?
We already have a Carbon Tax in CA that Moonbeam got through without a whimper.
A number of European countries have carbon taxes on automobiles. Out of curiosity, I calculated the approximate tax I would have to pay in Formerly Great Britain every year on the car that I drive, and it is by no means a gas hog. It is based only on the make and model, not the miles driven per year.
It came out to be about $400 per year.
But what the heck, they need the money to keep all the “refugees” and welfare slugs housed, cared for, and fed.
But it can’t happen here, right?

Global Warming on Free Republic here, here and here
Jay Inslee is, hands down, the stupidest governor we have ever elected here in Washington. It could only be worse if he was married to Patty Murray. He says things like ‘This will be a good thing for the residents of Washington here in Washington’. His ignorance is beyond amazing.
It was embarrassing enough when he was representing us in D.C. At least then he was just one insignificant fool in a large pool of fools. But as our governor he sticks out like a sore thumb. I gotta move to Idaho!!
Quoting from the Story:
1. “it would mostly be offset by a decrease in other tax revenues”
2. “A state economic analysis, however, estimates the measure could cost the state about $915 million in lost revenues over the first four years.”
What is the confusion? None other than the impact on the Washington Economy.
Well, it seems when you tax energy the economy shrinks which leads to less taxes being collected.
The money quote is: “Our intent is to be revenue neutral and we’re very close to being revenue neutral,” said Joe Ryan, co-chair of Carbon Washington.
Revenue Neutral to the government, that is the meaning.
So taken all together, the government will increase taxes as a percentage of GDP. More money out of your wallet.
My friends, Teri Hickel and Linda Kochmar will make sure this bill never sees the light of day. These are things we will discuss in our dinner with John Carlson in March.
