A few weeks after Senator Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) 79% joined a bipartisan push for an immigration overhaul in 2013, he arrived alongside Senator Chuck Schumer at the executive dining room of News Corporations Manhattan headquarters for dinner.
Their mission was to persuade Rupert Murdoch, the owner of the media empire, and Roger Ailes, the chairman and chief executive of its Fox News division, to keep the networks on-air personalities from savaging the legislation and give it a fighting chance at survival.
Mr. Murdoch, an advocate of immigration reform, and Mr. Ailes, his top lieutenant and the most powerful man in conservative television, agreed at the Jan. 17, 2013, meeting to give the senators some breathing room.
But the media executives, highly attuned to the intensifying anger in the Republican grass roots, warned that the senators also needed to make their case to Rush Limbaugh, the king of conservative talk radio, who held enormous sway with the partys largely anti-immigrant base.
The dinner at News Corporation headquarters which has not been previously reported and the subsequent outreach to Mr. Limbaugh illustrate the degree to which Mr. Rubio served as the chief envoy to the conservative media for the group supporting the legislation. The bill would have provided a pathway to American citizenship for 11 million illegal immigrants along with measures to secure the borders and ensure that foreigners left the United States upon the expiration of their visas.

I’ve known Ailes was slime since FNC did a global warming special and word got out that he laid down an edict that no one would be allowed to dispute the conclusions of the special.
And in doing a search just now, I see that Ailes was convinced by meeting with Al Gore in 2005. Wow. Dumb comes off Al Gore in waves, but I guess Ailes was bewitched.
And I will always believe they are working with the architects of the Mississippi McDaniel takedown, since word came out right before the debate that that strategy was going to be implemented in full against Trump. And several almost word-for-word articles came out saying what Rubio and Cruz had to do to “machine gun” Trump, and they played their roles just as suggested.
They are not working together. Where have you been. They have been slamming each other more than anything else. The field has narrowed. Trump dishes out. Trump has to take hits. He is not more special than everyone else and above criticism. They are both doing it because he is the front-runner and they are both separately vying for the same office. This isn’t rocket science. Two debates ago it seemed like Trump and Rubio were teaming up against Cruz. It is just how it plays out depending on the questions and the answers at the moment.
Yeah but that gives Cruz 8 years to prepare.
What?? I loved you, Rush. I loved you from first listen. But you are an f’ing LIAR to us loyal listeners. You “couldn’t handle the pay cut” to run for any office for us, even when we were in dire straits. Obama was not even slightly eligible to run for the presidency AND YOU NEVER SAID A WORD. You clearly don’t care about the listeners who built you, loved you, supported you. YOU ONLY CARE ABOUT HANGING WITH THESE STUPID MEDIA KINGS AND DC POWER BROKERS. You will change your content for them. You do their bidding and you never even tell us about your little game. You’re not a patriotic American after all. You just play one on the radio.
I have been saying forever that these radio guys are just infotainment....they are there just to sell soap. Even my favorite Savage is there for infotainment, but at least he is honest with that...
Hey Foxies, you sewer floating turds. Eat it.
Oh, I am shocked and disgusted about Rush! I KNEW Faux was dirty. I really am stunned that Rush Limbaugh is not who I thought. I’m saddened.
i’m a BIG Cruz fan, but this thing is over. Trump is up by 20. it’s done. time to move on.
kick Rubio, I don’t care.
but NO MORE anti Cruz threads, please!!
I like Trump but it hurts to see Cruz hit.
He’s not going to win.
post the POSITIVES about Trump, Trumpsters, the old honey rather than vinegar thing.
besides, I’ve worked on his street, 5th Avenue :)
I can say the pres lived on the same block I worked on :)
Thanks for the ping. I’ve pushed out a ping from my Election Results List. Should cover all of the regular rally attendees.

Is that ugly elephant supposed to look like Roger Ailes or Karl Rove? Lol!
Thanks. FOX has now become part of the story. The first thing a journalist should never do.
You are SO right! A case in point is what happened today on The Journal Editorial Report. I DVR it every Saturday and have always enjoyed it - until the station became so anti-Trump and Pro-Rubio (which is anything but "Fair and Balanced"). Today the show was an hour long rather than the usual half hour. After they spent the first two segments bashing Donald Trump, they were finally on a different topic when the show was interrupted by a "Special Alert" message of comments made to the media by, you guessed it, Rubio! I don't know what he said because I fast forwarded through it. In the second half hour, they did it again! This time, the interruption lasted through the end of the program. I was absolutely disgusted!
They spent the first part of the program saying how unelectable Trump is, yet they are completely blind to the fact that Rubio is unelectable because of the "Gang of Eight". Conservatives will simply not be motivated to go to the polls and vote for him! I have not failed to vote for POTUS since 1976, and I could cheerfully vote for Cruz, but I don't know what I would do if Rubio is the nominee. Since winning his own state looks doubtful, I really don't expect that to be the case, but I do not trust the GOPe and what they might try to pull at the convention!
Let Super Tuesday pass. The threads will slow off.
If this kind of collusion between the Uniparty, Fox, and talk radio went on back in 2013, just imagine how much of it is going on right now against Trump.
If rubio becomes the nominee, can we write in Trump?
