A few weeks after Senator Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) 79% joined a bipartisan push for an immigration overhaul in 2013, he arrived alongside Senator Chuck Schumer at the executive dining room of News Corporation’s Manhattan headquarters for dinner.
Their mission was to persuade Rupert Murdoch, the owner of the media empire, and Roger Ailes, the chairman and chief executive of its Fox News division, to keep the network’s on-air personalities from savaging the legislation and give it a fighting chance at survival.
Mr. Murdoch, an advocate of immigration reform, and Mr. Ailes, his top lieutenant and the most powerful man in conservative television, agreed at the Jan. 17, 2013, meeting to give the senators some breathing room.
But the media executives, highly attuned to the intensifying anger in the Republican grass roots, warned that the senators also needed to make their case to Rush Limbaugh, the king of conservative talk radio, who held enormous sway with the party’s largely anti-immigrant base.
The dinner at News Corporation headquarters — which has not been previously reported — and the subsequent outreach to Mr. Limbaugh illustrate the degree to which Mr. Rubio served as the chief envoy to the conservative media for the group supporting the legislation. The bill would have provided a pathway to American citizenship for 11 million illegal immigrants along with measures to secure the borders and ensure that foreigners left the United States upon the expiration of their visas.

George Putnam at that time was screaming about that issue, ask Doug From Upland.
Putnam was warning everyone in CA/Southwest U.S. during that time period. Limbaugh was all but silent for decades.
I also am surprised and disgusted. I wonder if Rush’s and FOX’s ratings will drop?
Putnam was more conservative as a Democrat that 95% O Republicans today.

Seriously, John and Ken are not even close to conservative but they despise government abuse and waste. And they get things done, like the petitions and such. They were even part of the force to get the gas leak —— biggest ever in US History — publicized when NO ONE ELSE in media was talking about it. (And the governor’s sister was on the energy board so Brown pretended for a month it wasn’t happening)
Deeds, people. It’s not about what ideology they cloak themselves with. Talk is cheap. And it’s not about wearing the same jerseys. Save that for sports. If people can actually a)speak the truth and b) do something about it, that is whom we need - on the air AND in the WH.
I’m so disappointed in Limbaugh. I actually trusted him. But you know what? I have never been let down by John and Ken. I disagree with them on stuff, but it’s honest disagreement. This morning I swear to the Almighty I would rather have lunch with Bernie Sanders than Rush Limbaugh. At least Bern is HONEST. (And probably knows where to get the best pastrami.)
Fox’s ratings have dropped 50% since they were clearly biased in all the debates and in their programming.
Limbaugh’s are about to drop if this gets out. I’m sure a lot of his listeners aren’t on FR nor read the NYT. They need to hear. I picture a lot of seniors who have trusted him for years not finding out. I feel bad for them.

Who benefits from anything reported by the MSM? HILLARY CLINTON, does anyone really believe they will throw her under the bus for Trump?

I believe that FNC’s ratings have dropped by as much as 50% since the infamous debate in which Megyn Kelly was one of the hosts. I guess that the same thing could happen to Rush, although it’s difficult to imagine.

Wow. I did read some of the reports out there! Even Rush and Hannity agreed to push “immigration reform” too??? I knew they were not to be trusted!
