A few weeks after Senator Sen. Marco Rubio (R-FL) 79% joined a bipartisan push for an immigration overhaul in 2013, he arrived alongside Senator Chuck Schumer at the executive dining room of News Corporations Manhattan headquarters for dinner.
Their mission was to persuade Rupert Murdoch, the owner of the media empire, and Roger Ailes, the chairman and chief executive of its Fox News division, to keep the networks on-air personalities from savaging the legislation and give it a fighting chance at survival.
Mr. Murdoch, an advocate of immigration reform, and Mr. Ailes, his top lieutenant and the most powerful man in conservative television, agreed at the Jan. 17, 2013, meeting to give the senators some breathing room.
But the media executives, highly attuned to the intensifying anger in the Republican grass roots, warned that the senators also needed to make their case to Rush Limbaugh, the king of conservative talk radio, who held enormous sway with the partys largely anti-immigrant base.
The dinner at News Corporation headquarters which has not been previously reported and the subsequent outreach to Mr. Limbaugh illustrate the degree to which Mr. Rubio served as the chief envoy to the conservative media for the group supporting the legislation. The bill would have provided a pathway to American citizenship for 11 million illegal immigrants along with measures to secure the borders and ensure that foreigners left the United States upon the expiration of their visas.

I never thought for 18 years, I would tune Rush off, every chance I had. But lately he is clearly anti-Trump. That is my line in the sand. Good bye Rush until Trump is nominated. I am sure after that Rush will be all for Trump again.
Phil Robertson has the right idea. He trusts the most godly man above all others. Secular vslues are malleable and can be manipulated and transformed. Religious values are much more deeply ingrained and unshakable. Cruz has the strongest religious faith of the major candidates and therefore is going to be the least likely to change his core beliefs. His record speaks to that as well.
No doubt he readying his plan.
GOOD of the NYT to publish these revelations for hometown GOP candidate TRUMP!
I checked my DirecTV which isn’t always updated, but it shows that Donald trump is scheduled to appear tomorrow morning on
FACE THE NATION
FOX NEWS SUNDAY
Cruz has scheduled himself to appear on every Sunday show.
Marco Rubio reminds me of some of the guys I went to high school with. He’s too immature to be president or even senator. In addition to his own sympathy for amnesty, he’s easily influenced by “big boys” such as Schumer who imply that he can join their club if he supports their agenda. He’s overly suggestible and will follow the lead of those in power who promise to make him into a “big deal.” But he knows he’s not the real deal, and if actually elected president, there will be no one more surprised than Marco Rubio—as was also true of Obama when he was elected in 2008.
Finocchio..
I tell folks out here all the time that the 1965 immigration bill killed conservatism in this country since 80% of those immigrants that have come over here now vote democratic.
We ain’t voting for a preacher
And you know that
I sure don’t question Ted or Heidi’s faith...in fact I defend her here
But Ted ain’t all that on borders or he wouldn’t have endorsed his paisano Cabana Boy over Trump
Nor would he love H1B like he does
Either the NYT doesn’t want Rubio as VP behind Trump, suspecting Mittens trial balloon is real; OR the NYT has made another horrible miscalculation about flyover country voters.
This goes right along with Rupert Murdoch’s other “news” organizations in Britain doing underhanded things like tapping into celebrities and politicians voicemail. The man is like some kind of “news” slime/crime boss.
Levin is even worse and has ALWAYS been Rush's "inside the Beltway" whisperer.
About a month or so ago, a nice sounding lady from Kentucky called Rush. She was very polite and after saying the silly THANK YOU FOR TAKING MY CALL, she said that she is a Trump supporter and Rush flew down her throat, harangued her, insulted her, and I shut the radio off and have NEVER listened to him again and shan't EVER do so. Well, I just might listen to him the day after trump wins the election and is our president elect. I want to hear his head explode!
Must knock Rubio out, and now, with him, Cruz. Fox wants their globalism whore, but the Times doesn’t want any Republican at all. Purists!
“Rush Limbaugh Blasts GOP Establishment: You Created Trump”
Did that not happen?
Sean, the Great American, and O’Reilly, “looking out for the folks”....total, filthy liars!
I admit....about Rush....it breaks my heart. But, I did stop listening to him when he attacked the elderly lady who called and voiced her displeasure at Me Gyn bloody Kelly and Rush attacked her. So, not totally shocked that he’s such a pig.
Did the article say Rush Limbaugh was persuaded?
I refuse to say how long I read the the N.Y. Slimes, but suffice it to say that I was 10p when I started and yes, I did understand it at that age.
A lot of “polls” are created to influence public opinion, not to gauge it.
OH DEAR!
I’m so sorry!
I’m so tired!
I should be sleeping.
I want our FReepathon OVER!
It’s uncanny ... I looked back to our 4th Q’s and it’s almost identical for this date:
12-28-15 = 60 New Monthly Donors (Same right now)
12-28-15 = $100.00+ donations = 189 (Right now = 196)
Mark HATES Trump more.
Even though I am a Trump supporter, and I know Levin is a Cruz supporter, and he has taken my candidate to task many times now with effective and sometimes legitimate criticism, I still hold Levin in high esteem.
He’s a good man. We all make mistakes. Sometimes it’s hard to tell who is lying to you, especially when you are dealing with professional liars, which politicians are.
I already have......several years ago
