The theme music from Harrison Ford's movie 'Air Force One' blared over loudspeakers in a rural Tennessee airport hangar, and minutes later a less presidential noise wafted over a hot mic.
'Get in the plane and go home. It's over there. Go home.'
That was Donald Trump, the Republican presidential front-runner, telling his newest endorser Chris Christie in front of 12,000 people exactly where to go and how to get there.
Christie had just sung The Donald's praises following the dramatic entrance of his plane in a stunt the campaign invented a month ago in Dubuque, Iowa.
And more importantly, he had trashed Marco Rubio.
The boyish Florida senator who has given Trump his share of heartburn in recent days, Christie told thousands clumped shoulder-to-shoulder, 'said he's gonna work as hard as he can as long as he can to win the Republican nomination.'
'That would be something new for Marco Rubio to show up to work at all!'
'How about a refund, Senator Rubio?' he asked of the senator who has skipped more hearings on Capitol Hill than he's attended in five years on the job.
Christie and Trump had strode down a set of tarmac stairs from what Rubio now calls 'Hair Force One' to the strains of Marc Cohn's 'Walking in Memphis,' a hat tip to the music city just a half hour's drive away.
A deafening roar set the scene. Christie knocked young Marco out of the park. And then Trump showed him the back of his hand.
It was, as one Twitter wag opined, the political political equivalent of leaving the money on the nightstand.

You Post on FR so it is assumed you have a grasp of reality.
You cannot really be this dense can you?
Please tell us you just forgot the Sarc Tag.
Another lie from the media.
It was said in humor, guy talk. Maybe you’re not a guy?
My only surprise is a s#it thread like this wasn’t started by Theo or GGG.
No really. Sure.
Get the Vaccine.
Exactly. Trump and Christie had probably been joking around all day. It was an offhand comment in a long conversation.
Good God, anti-Trump people are SERIOUSLY unhinged.
Christie looked haggard. Was Trump saying to get going and rest? I don't know. But, taking words while not knowing their context is bound to embarrass the persons making the wrong conclusion.
“Or maybe Trump was being kind to him . . knowing Christie was tired . . and was willing to let him go home early on his plane, which had to cost quite a lot.”
I don’t particularly care for either Trump or Christie, and I read Trump’s action/words the same way as you.
.
You can believe that Trump just let him go home early. Like a boss that sees you did a good job beyond expectations.
Cut up video tape to make Donald look bad.
This is from the Daily Mail UK. It might just be a British misinterpretation of the situation. When I was in London walking down a very crowded sidewalk I elbowed a woman accidentally and with my best Southern manners I said, “Excuse me!’” Well, I might as well have said, “ Watch where you are going, you big fat cow” because she came unhinged and starting cussing and her boy friend held her back or I think she would have hit me. I learned after that the the proper thing to say would be, “Sorry.”
“British misinterpretation.”
Brits normally have poor manners and are not at all caring toward those in a lower position at the moment. So they simply could not understand a boss telling someone “go home” the way real men do.
I was there. Christie left early on a private jet, not the 757.
That is BS!!!
That is not necessarily a dissing.
It could mean, “I know you’re tired. I really appreciate you being here. Now get in the plane and go home to get some rest.”
I did not take that as a dissing. That is a non-story.
A local cop who probably works the airshows there said 19000.
Don’t forget Cincinattus Wife.
CC
Oh please. That was no “diss”.
That’s how East coast people talk. I took it as “You’re tired. Thank you for all the work and support. Go home.”
>>>British misinterpretation.<<
Yeah, they probably thought Trump was sending Christie to a Dentist.
Conservative Brits will tell you that the Daily Mail is wildly liberal.
