In fact, despite his attacks on his party’s donor class and establishment, Cruz, the Texas senator who won last week’s Iowa caucuses, appears to have locked down the support of four of the top six donors ― the Wilks family of Cisco, Texas (the No. 1 donor on POLITICO’s list), New York hedge fund tycoon Bob Mercer (No. 2), Texas energy investor Toby Neugebauer (No. 4) and Illinois manufacturing moguls Dick and Liz Uihlein (No. 6) ― but only one other donor on the list.

I’m not bitter. I’m actually enjoying this. I’m finding out what hypocrites Freepers can be. They have no principles, morals, or a plan if things go badly. It’s their tyrant or bust.

But Ferguson took his admonishment a step further, questioning Trump’s financial commitment to the party and claiming that Trump has "given more money to Democratic candidates than Republican candidates."

Public records show that the real estate tycoon has actually contributed around $350,000 more to Republicans at the state and federal level than Democrats. That, however, is a recent development: Since 2012, Trump has donated $463,450 to Republicans and just $3,500 to Democrats.

Ferguson’s statement contains an element of truth but ignores critical facts. We rate it Mostly False.

what Ferguson said was true.

Trump has given more money to Democrats throughout his history of donating

Even Reagan had to make concessions to the donor class. Reagan did not like Bush. He had to make that concession to the donor class. But no, Reagan is not now a monster.

It's funny though, had this story been written about Donald it would be a huge development in your mind. Since it's Cruz you treat it as nothing to see folks, move along. The fact that his wife is involved with the CFR is even ignored by you Cruz supporters. Building a North American Community If this were Donald Trump you all would be up in arms, but the reality is that the CFR does have conservatives, and it does not mean they share the views of the CFR. But for you all, one is guilty merely by association. You all like to say how Trump supporters are less intellectual (many actually say stupid), that we are not conservative, or whatever else might come to their mind to disparage us.

Why don't you just support your candidate, lose the vitriol and may the best man win. When this is over we all coalesce to defeat the Democrat candidate. That said, pray like hades that candidate is not Rubio. Trump of Cruz, period.

It's a well known fact, but it proves nothing. What it proves is that yes he greased hands because you have to in business. It's a reality. My point was, how many of these donors supporting Cruz have themselves supported liberal Democratic candidates? They may be as guilty as Trump in that respect. Bottom line, is it doesn't really matter to me. But if you think this does not give these donors influence over Cruz, think again. Support comes with strings attached. Cruz is a realist and knows he needs their support. What we don't know is what concessions will he have to make down the road as the payback for their support.

To put it another way, Ted Cruz is not as pure as the driven white snow either.

what do you want? govt to fund campaigns??? It takes money to run a campaign especially if one is an outsider without name recognition.

Self funders do not impress me. Conservative politicians getting elected impresses me.

I figured this was what you had in mind, because it is the only case, but you implied they were happening all the time.

Your link said:

“nearly cost”

Trump tried to buy her house for about two million dollars, and a lifetime residence in one of his Florida hotels, but she was holding out for more. She got bad advice.

He walked away from the project; she still had her house.

The eminent domain case was launched by the city.

Have you ever seen a picture of the house while the construction was going on and she refused to sell. The buildings were about ten feet from her house and built around it.

It was not a quaint little house on a tree lined street with green lawns, etc. It must have been hell with all the construction noise.

She finally sold it for a little and moved into a nursing home, I think. It was later demolished by the new owner.

I want nothing. Did I ask for something? I was merely pointing out a fact to you. Ted Cruz is not going to come out of this process free to do whatever he may want to accomplish, if he wins the nomination and then the election.

So how can you be sure a conservative politician is what you will get after all is said and done. Only one politician has ever had a lasting positive affect on me, Reagan. Reagan definitely had conservative traits, but he wasn't a staunch conservative. He knew when to exert conservatism, and when to throttle it back. Yet he always accomplished his main goals.

What has happened to FR. Everything we used to like is now bad, and everything that was bad is now good

Enter the Donald. Those that are falling head over heels for him have lost their minds.

Trump received a $1,000,000 loan from his father and built his empire. Later he inherited his share from his father’s $200,000,000 estate less taxes. That inheritance came well after his future was secured.

But he was one of five children and had to share the estate.
