In our PNAS article, Robertson and I calculated that Google now has the power to flip upwards of 25 per cent of the national elections in the world with no one knowing this is occurring.

- Google performs 83%+ of U.S. Internet searches. (90%+ elsewhere).
- 90%+ of people don't look past the first page of results (80% don't look past the first TWO results).
- Google is overwhelmingly left-leaning.
- Google gave $800k to BHO in 2012, only $37k to Romney.
- There is no paper trail of how Google produces its rankings - it's a secret.
- Tests show that manipulating the search results can influence opinions in favor of, or away from, a given candidate. IN A REAL ELECTION. The testers did it in an election in India, and influenced all three candidates about the same, but the effect was real.
- Tests were able to shift more than 20% of the voters overall, and up to 60% in some demographic groups.
- Those tests were with ONE SHOT at influencing the voters. A sustained campaign could practically guarantee whatever outcome Google wanted, WITH NO EVIDENCE OF ANY MALFEASANCE.

The media foisted Obama on us twice; Google is just part of the media.

- Facebook, in 2010, sent out 60 million 'GO OUT AND VOTE" reminders.
- That caused 340,000 people to vote, who otherwise wouldn't have (not sure how they know that).
- Facebook collects enough data to figure out if you're a D or R.
- They COULD (not saying they DO, or they HAVE) send those reminders to ONLY the voters leaning the "preferred" way. (I wonder which way that would be).

Looks to me like Startpage.com is just Google without your personal info attached.
IOW, they give you the results from GOOGLE, but anonymously.
You’re still vulnerable to the same effects.
(Read the fine print in the “Powered by Google” blurb).
I use DuckDuckGo.com, myself.

Since voter turnout seems to be linked to those folks over 35, and even then a 50% turnout is HUGE, I can’t see ANY politician worrying about it.

This is why there are SuperDelegates.
Feel the Bern, Hillary's ass.
And Trump will then kick Hillary's amply endowed ass.

The media foisted Obama on us twice; Google is just part of the media.NO, the GOP did that. They fought like hell to get rid of the good candidates and left us with weak ones to go against Obama.
Folks, if you're reading this, you know what needs to happen.
It doesn't take a big contribution. Pick your comfort level and
please join others to help put the FReepathon to rest. Thank you.
The above note was first presented to you on 02/25 at around 11:00.
The goal shortfall at that time is depicted to you on the left.
The graphic on the right reveals our status as of 02/26 22:30.
We can finish this by Sunday night. Let's do it.
Let's give Jim, his crew, and us a full month to rest up.
Jim, his crew, and every other FReeper thanks you.

really? I tried using that (it’s the default search engine for Palemoon and IIRC also Maxthon) but even obvious search results were missed and for shopping for price a lot of things were missed that would appear on page one of Google or Bing.
To: huldah1776
oh, I’m also a data hoarder so I first look for “major” or “reputable” sources. I do check the bio of the blogger. I also scroll and scroll and scroll (using duckduckgo there is no bothersome pages which in fact take more effort or keystrokes and cause people to NOT continue through the list, hence, the new website layouts that are all scroll few links). Sorry if I am rambling. Used to do web design.

Trump as a potential Republican candidate is facing more media scrutiny in three months than Obama has faced in his entire political career; the media that now questions Trump’s qualifications NEVER did that to Obama (either as a senator, a presidential candidate, or as president).
The media elected Obama twice, even if the Republican candidates sucked; the first lost to an inexperienced nothing, while the second lost to a proven failure that was excused by the media with the words “Republican obstructionism”...

ah, I only do research for psych and politics, I guess shopping may use a different algorithm at google ($$$) and bing, no idea. Corporations probably pay for list status.

So what? Where is the evidence that Google has done anything wrong? Lots of corporations donate to liberals because liberals run the country.

This has been going on for a long time. It is very, very apparent, entirely irritating and makes one angry to know that people are being manipulated by the leftists.

Where is the evidence that Google has done anything wrong? Like the article says, no evidence is possible. The fact that they have the potential to do all that, while leaving no trail, is scary.
