The wealthy proprietor of Blackberry Farms, a world-famous resort in Tennessee, has died in a skiing accident.

PRAYERS for him and his family.
Skiing, as a sport is exciting, as a skill, is beautiful in it’s strength and grace. Skiing, especially downhill, is always dangerous. I think he was out there alone.
So beautiful.
Was he wearing a helmet?
Luxury retreat? Who had been there recently? Anyone from the International Order of St. Hubertus?
Nice place, but must be very low key because I’d never heard of it before today and I know western NC and east TN pretty well.
“Mary Celeste,” that’s a bad omen right there.
The good ones do seem to stay word of mouth only..... if at all.
There are some very nice places tucked away up there, and many do not need to advertise at all, that’s for certain. But to be world-famous while remaining largely unknown to lifelong residents takes some effort.
Years ago on vacation in Vermont a friend commented to a Vermonter that they never told us (in NJ) how many people died skiing; they responded that they never told Vermonters how many people drowned at the Jersey shore either...
Part of the fun in those activities is the inherent risk. Most either internalize it, and push on, or decide the risk is not worth the reward of adrenaline rush. For the same reasons, I’ve never been attracted to bungee jumping. I always thought one could very easily dislocate your arms instantly. But I still hope to lose enough weight one day to qualify for sky diving training. I would love to ‘tandem’ sky dive before it’s all over. So, you pick your poison.
Skiing is not a safe past time.
I want to do the same (parachute, though not attached to another person); if I do it I’d seriously wear a pair of paratrooper wings. However, I think a lot less people are maimed/killed skydiving than skiing.
I don’t criticize people that ski; I just hope they understand the risks (just like people entering the ocean).
Leaving positive comments on such articles is nothing more than a bandage on the growing problem..........
Hey, the law of gravity does not discriminate against weight.........we are all created equal!
That doesn't mean I'm saying "go for it".......LOL!
Skiing doesn’t have to be dangerous. It is completely exhilarating, but accidents do happen. That’s why they’re called accidents. Prayer for this man’s young family.
How sad. He was far too young, as is his family. He was very talented, too.

Most people wouldn’t know what you mean by that, but hell yes that’s a bad omen!
RIP.
