Peace Corps.
I believe in using RAT tactics against RATS.
Mathews graduated from college in 67. He was out of deferments and was still eligible for the draft during the Vietnam war.
He joined the peace corps in 68 which allowed him to avoid the draft.
He worked for Ed Muskie. He was a speech writer for Carter.
It’s Trump’s praise of Planned Parenthood that sold me.
Well, duh. They’re doing an excellent job of keeping the black population in check.
When I first glanced at your screename I read “ConvincedTool.”.
And immediately thought “what an accurate description of a Trumpnutter”.
Ok, I forgot he worked for Carter. I haven’t kept up much with Matthews probably over the last 15 years to be honest. I have only watched him more this election cycle, along with some of the CNN shows because FOX has now become the RNC head cheerleader, in many cases, similar to what CNN and MSNBC use to do with 1)Democrat vs. Republican (bias left) and 2) Be a cheerleader in Democratic primary politics (bias again).
Bias is bias I don’t give a crap if the left wing media does it (and they have for years) and if Fox does it in how they handle the Republican primary voting (they are anti-Trump).
I am curios to see how Fox handles the Michigan Debate this Thursday. Or they going to structure it where they ask a candidate a question and ask them to say what they will do, not what they say the other guy is going to do. What type of questions are they going to ask. Because if this comes off as a Get Trump debate, they are going to loose more credibility.
Further, they need to have more than Karl Rove and Stephen Hayes to do post debate analysis, those 2 are in the tank for the RNC establishment. Monica Crowley has been pretty objective, let her chime in. This Stephen Hurt fellow from the Washington Times seems objective as well, more of him.
I also think it would be great for them to interview Pat Buchanan, he is said much of what Trump is saying back in 91-92 and he seems prophetic.
What this says to me is Trump has an appeal to the Dems. I think there are a lot of dems who would not have a problem voting for Trump or him winning the presidency.
I’d like to hear Trump give a speech. A real speech. Not just buzz words. Can anyone here post a link to such a speech?
At the debate next week I wish Trump would think to say something to the effect of “with two sitting senators up here on the stage how come the wall isn’t built?”
I suspect Mr. Trump spends enough time and money, preparing his tax returns, and then paying his taxes, plus all the taxes and fees associated with his business ventures, that he is quite aware of where the govt’s money comes from! Sometimes you Trump haters are so darn silly. Try offering some intelligent relevant criticism occasionally tempered with the recognition that Mr. Trump has made some good points, and maybe even has some character strengths.
In the Clinton years, Chris Matthews earned a lot of respect on our side of the aisle (even being asked to host the Rush Limbaugh show) for his intelligent reporting of the Clinton impeachment proceedings and his whole-hearted condemnation of Clinton, unequivocally stating that Clinton needed to be impeached and convicted. Somewhere deep in Matthew’s soul is a modicum of honesty and integrity that occasionally surfaces.
erkelly:
Well he has been critical of Hillary. As he says, they (and that is Hillary and the RNC establishment candidates) talk about Government, Government, etc. Trump talks about the Country. That is as different a campaign strategy as Matthews has seen in a long time.
I enjoyed Matthews commentary back in the days when I was a religious watcher of the McLaughlin group. Always was a Pat Buchanan supporter, kind of like me, from a Catholic background (him Irish, me Italian) who came into the Conservative movement from traditionally Democratic voting families. I watched him a lot back in 2000, I was a McCain supporter back then and thought he was the best candidate over GW. I supported GW in both his elections but Matthews hardball show back then was quite good. I kind of got upset with Matthews when he and MSNBC went into the tank with Obama back in 2008. He seems to coming back into being a solid journalist, even though he is a life long democrat.
I can respect journalist who don’t agree with me if they act as objective reporters, Matthews seems to be doing that again. Jake Trapper and A. Cooper at CNN have done a good job. Now, their panel with all he former RNC operatives drives me crazy, although they do have a Trump supporter who worked in the Reagan Administration (his name escapes me).
Fox needs to get some of analyst on their shows that are not anti Trump, in addition real in the likes of Megyn Kelly, Bret Bair, Wallace, Brit Hume, etc.
In my view, O’Reilly has been fair to Trump, as has Hannity.
Thanks for posting - quite a find!
At the debate he talked about building a new republican party.
We have to ask the question: who came up with: the candidates are auditioning to join our Republican party talking point? Cmon Reince, seriously? You could just wait for the convention to display the ridiculous. Doing so now just allows everyone to discuss the upcoming BS.
Candidate Donald Trump won this debate in the first few minutes when he said to YOU:
I am reaching voters across the board and we are creating a broader and more inclusive Republican party. We are rebuilding the Republican Party

That kind of insult is just so uncalled for. So, I am “nutter” for making a brief, thoughtful post on interest.
Boy, FR is becoming *the place to witness the worst examples of hatred and loathsome behavior of late.*
Well I was half joking but I am sorry if it offended your sensibilities.
