In the Clinton years, Chris Matthews earned a lot of respect on our side of the aisle (even being asked to host the Rush Limbaugh show) for his intelligent reporting of the Clinton impeachment proceedings and his whole-hearted condemnation of Clinton, unequivocally stating that Clinton needed to be impeached and convicted. Somewhere deep in Matthew’s soul is a modicum of honesty and integrity that occasionally surfaces.

Well he has been critical of Hillary. As he says, they (and that is Hillary and the RNC establishment candidates) talk about Government, Government, etc. Trump talks about the Country. That is as different a campaign strategy as Matthews has seen in a long time.

I enjoyed Matthews commentary back in the days when I was a religious watcher of the McLaughlin group. Always was a Pat Buchanan supporter, kind of like me, from a Catholic background (him Irish, me Italian) who came into the Conservative movement from traditionally Democratic voting families. I watched him a lot back in 2000, I was a McCain supporter back then and thought he was the best candidate over GW. I supported GW in both his elections but Matthews hardball show back then was quite good. I kind of got upset with Matthews when he and MSNBC went into the tank with Obama back in 2008. He seems to coming back into being a solid journalist, even though he is a life long democrat.

I can respect journalist who don’t agree with me if they act as objective reporters, Matthews seems to be doing that again. Jake Trapper and A. Cooper at CNN have done a good job. Now, their panel with all he former RNC operatives drives me crazy, although they do have a Trump supporter who worked in the Reagan Administration (his name escapes me).

Fox needs to get some of analyst on their shows that are not anti Trump, in addition real in the likes of Megyn Kelly, Bret Bair, Wallace, Brit Hume, etc.

In my view, O’Reilly has been fair to Trump, as has Hannity.
