Woman Charged With Providing Guns To Kansas Shooter

Sarah Hopkins, 28, of Newton, Kan., is charged with one count of knowingly transferring a firearm to a convicted felon. Prosecutors allege Hopkins, a friend of Cedric Ford, knew about his criminal history before giving him the semi-automatic rifle and handgun he used in the rampage that left 3 dead and 14 others wounded.

".223-caliber"?

I think a different article claims the long gun was an AK-47. How does ignorance of gun-related issues result in such errors in detail? Or did the transfer of guns have no connection to the shooting?

The Wichita Eagle reported Hopkins is the mother of Ford's two children. She moved out of her home with Ford in July and retrieved the guns from the house less than a month later with the help of police, the Eagle reported, citing an affidavit in the case. Shortly thereafter, Hopkins gave the guns back to Ford "because Ford had threatened her," the paper reported.

This story is not convincing.

This woman has just had the father of her two children kill several people and be killed.

Yes, it would have been a better choice, looking backward, to have not gotten involved, though it will be very hard for her to say that with two children.

Let us try not to be so snarky about her appearance. We all have our weaknesses. Free Republic should be better than this.

This is a felony.

She did this multiple time.

She should serve serious prison time No plea bargains; no parole.

I’m sorry, I can’t really say enough bad things about someone who knowingly assists in getting people killed. There were plenty of ways (paid for by government and private charities) she could have left a bad relationship if that was an issue.

So far, all I have is that photo to work with. I actually have more, but my personal decorum prohibits that.

I’m wondering who will pay for the upbringing of the children of these two fine citizens.

Just like the getaway driver gets charged with murder when his fellow bank robbers shoot a guard, Sarah should be charged, tried, convicted, and sentenced for the three murders and 14 attempted murders by Cedric.

Good idea. And, by the same token, the son of the Handgun Control Inc member who sold one of the weapons used by Columbine shooters Kleybold and Harris should also be so charged for the Columbine murders.
