Nice shot but the video shows the tank’s crew member bailing out, it looks like the strike did not penetrate the turret and potentially glanced off.

And why are they yelling Hello Akbar?

Syrian Rebels, or ISIS? I don’t think there’s a difference which puts us in the position of arming and ultimately supporting the wrong side. Anyone else thing the Russians are going to appreciate TOW systems in ISIS hands going against their tanks?

I hate going to websites that gyp YouTube and then add all their other crap on that keeps you from seeing it.

https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=2rfyeR-YaJw

In the video, there is a hit on a T-90 tank by some forces in Sysria. To me there is something inherently disturbing about Muslims of any sort using a US made TOW missile and shouting “Allahu Akbar” before and after the shot.

Further, at the end you can see at least one crew member scramble out of the tank under his own power which would lead me to believe that it wasn’t a full penetration.

Around 51 seconds, I thought I heard someone say “Oh my God” in a low murmur, in English?

CIA-vetted Syrian rebels.

Or as we used to call them, al-Qaeda.

Operation Inherent Resolve
The strikes were conducted as part of Operation Inherent Resolve, the operation to eliminate the ISIL terrorist group and the threat they pose to Iraq, Syria, and the wider international community. The destruction of ISIL targets in Syria and Iraq further limits the terrorist group's ability to project terror and conduct operations, officials said.

Coalition nations that have conducted strikes in Iraq include the United States, Australia, Belgium, Canada, Denmark, France, Jordan, the Netherlands and the United Kingdom. Coalition nations that have conducted strikes in Syria include the United States, Australia, Bahrain, Canada, France, Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Turkey, the United Arab Emirates and the United Kingdom.

Were these the U.S. taxpayer funded missiles that were smuggled to the terrorists via the consulate in Benghazi?

This is a comment from the “Defece Blog” link buried in the Wash Post article —

That was a direct attack TOW. Either a TOW-2 or TOW-2A with reactive armor precursor charge.

Most TOW built since the late 1990’s, or rebuilt at depot, were TOW-2B top attack versions.

Note as well that there was no wire leaving the missile in the video of the launcher.

This makes the missile one with a radio frequency guidance as opposed to wire. This upgrade happened when the wire company the US Army used went out of business in the late 1990’s.

I’d make that missile a depot rebuild direct attack TOW with R/F guidance.

It is likely the Shtora failed because one of the two circular emitters on the turret in the video was covered by the by the wall/planter to the right of the T-90 for most of the TOW’s flight path.

IOW, the Shtora countermeasures were defeated by poor crew tactics

Shooter used a TOW mark 1. A TOW II would have killed the tank. The anti-missile system did not respond because when the hatches are open the system is off; crew climbs out because he is still acting as if he was in an older T-60 or T-72 where such a strike would have killed the tank showing is poorly trained in use of T-90; further having hatches open and standing in the open so long in combat situation is another indication of bad training.

That the missile did no damage to the tank is indicated by lack of smoke from barrel and that he film was cut off. Did the tank respond? If they did, was the result similar to the one below?

I posted a link to a guy firing a Metis M at a T-90 which took between 2 and 5 seconds to respond ... result: Mustafa is dead.

Mustafa fires his 9K115-2 Metis-M missile ... (:50 mark)

Here's one of a T-90 fending off a missile attack.

“CIA-vetted Syrian rebels”

OK, now I’m nervous. Next video will show ISIS using these missiles against the US or our allies.

since when did we supply arms to muslims?

Proxy wars such as this have always been used to test/prove weapons systems. If you look closely, you can see the tank crew exiting after the missile strike. It’s not clear the extent of the damage to the tank.

Did not see any secondaries and crew exiting vehicle (especially the turret) means the shot was not a “kill”. T90 probably has explosive reactive armor which disrupts the shaped charge gases used by the TOW to penetrate.
