Trump is a natural Conservative. On the precise issues that matter, he is a work in progress. But he is by nature a Conservative.

This doesn't even make any sense. You repeat your conclusion twice, yet your only premise actually contradicts that conclusion. On the issues that matter, you confess that he is a work in progress (meaning that he is not yet fully conservative on the issue that matter). Have you ever considered that if Trump was a natural Conservative, then by definition he wouldn't still be working on becoming one?

As for the issues that matter, here is what Trump proposes:

Government-paid health care
Higher tax rates for hedge fund managers
Continued praise for Planned Parenthood
Expedite the return of illegals back into the US.

Should I assume that these are some of the 'work-in-progress' issues you were referring to? Because we currently have a candidate who is already Conservative on these now. So why settle for a candidate who still talks like a Democrat?

Conservative personalities do not start life with any positions on contemporary issues. Read my article, accept it or reject its hypothesis. But do not pretend to find contradictions in what you have not read.

the scales, the scales that cover your eyes, prevent you from discerning the breadth of American conservatism
