"If he hadn't inherited $200 million, you know where [Donald] Trump would be? Selling watches in Manhattan."
It was Marco Rubio's big moment, the one that was supposed to damage the GOP front-runner. It wasn't a bad line. The zinger illuminated that Trump wasn't self-made. It made him seem like the avatar of New York's worst values--a street hustler from pre-Giuliani Times Square.
Rubio's riposte got a laugh, but that was it. But he administered his blow too quickly, after a dizzying oppo dump of Trumpian facts--bankruptcies, lawsuits against Trump University, hiring illegal workers and so on. Like a hormonal teenager with control issues, Rubio blurted them out so quickly that the fusillade fell flat.

I enjoyed the parts where Donald turned from orange to red.
I don’t think he did. He got battered pretty hard, kicked back and forth between Ted and Marco. A pretty bad night for Trump.
Back in 2011, Marco Rubio was a loud advocate of getting involved with the Libyan civil war. Here’s how he handled the topic when it came up in at tonight’s Republican presidential debate:
Trump was calm and cool on the debate stage tonight.
lol! Rubio looks like Tony Montana’s sleazy brother in Scarface.
Yep. Cruz and Rubio did not show any leadership potential. Trump took every shot on his scheild and sliced them with he repose. Cruz walked face fist into Trumps verbal jabs all night long.
If it had been a prize fight, they would of called it for Trump about half way thru. Curz/Rubio and the moderates made it all about Trump and came out of the losing end.
New York law from after the Civil War says that I could set up a vending stand on any street without a permit.
“Selling watches in Manhattan.”
They would be more real work than the Cuban anchor baby has ever done. It will be very satisfying to see Marco lose big time in Florida.
That should be a guy covered in foam behind him
Oh please. The number one perveor of Hate Trump postings on Free Republic thinks Trump had a bad night.
Sorry but for you to post an opinion about Trump is like asking Sanders to comment on Capitalists
It just didn’t fluster Trump - he took it in stride like a reposed Buddha. No anger or trantrums from The Donald.
Not his best night but not his worst night either.
“I enjoyed the parts where Donald turned from orange to red.”
You are as hilarious as the Cubans and their lame rehearsed lines.
Every post debate poll I have seen has Trump ahead and some way ahead. Even the Blaze had Trump at 54%. I think the tag team of Cruz and Rubio went over the top. It became obvious to everyone what was going on and it backfired big time.
Well, Trump was just trying to fit in with the ethnic variety onstage with him tonight.
You would post the exact same comment if all the others had turned into tapioca on the stage
Every time I see him, in my head, I think “Former Chippendale, Marco Rubio”.
No idea why.
:D
Heidi should begin to worry: Tonight cruz showed he ain’t all that faithful.
