Liberals Bent on Impeaching KY Governor for Keeping Campaign Promises

When Republican businessman Matt Bevin ran for governor of Kentucky, he promised to make a number of budget cuts in order to help fix the commonwealth's budget and salvage the huge deficit in the state's pension plan. He also promised to change marriage licenses issued by county clerks and to end the commonwealth's healthcare exchange program.

The heart of Kentucky's Democratic political fortresses in Lexington and Louisville didn't think Bevin stood a chance on beating out their candidate, Jack Conway, then Kentucky Attorney General. Since 1947, only 2 Republicans have won the governor's mansion in this good old boy state prior to Bevin, who surprised the establishment and soundly defeated Conway, 511,771 votes to 426,944 votes for the Democratic candidate. The 52.5% to 43.8% victory was a message being shouted by the people of Kentucky that they are tired of doing things the same old Democratic way, which over the past 7 years has been a clone of Obama's regime.

Within the first couple weeks of being sworn in as Kentucky's 62nd Governor, Bevin started fulfilling some of his campaign promises. He ordered that marriage licenses be changed by removing the actual name and signature of the County Clerk. He did this in response to what happened with Rowan County Clerk Kim Davis who refused to issue or sign a marriage license for same sex couples.

Shortly thereafter, Bevin announced plans to eliminate Kentucky's healthcare exchange and transition to the federal exchange program. The reason behind this move that Kentucky residents were paying taxes to support the federal and commonwealth exchanges. By eliminating the commonwealth exchange, it will save taxpayers and the commonwealth government.

Now Bevin is keeping his promise to slice and dice the commonwealth's budget, which is the same thing that needs to be done with the federal government. Don't forget that the budget has been under Democratic control that has a tendency to pad the wallets of friends, family and supporters. Bevin's budget proposal calls for a number of cuts that are not setting well with the good old boy mentality of the Democratic machine.

Some of them cannot stand to see the right things being done or a Republican keep his promises, the ones that got him elected. An online petition to impeach Bevin is gaining momentum. They claim that he somehow rigged the election and that his many cuts are helping him to cover it up. It's interesting that the same people that defend many of the Democratic policies that allow for voter fraud are now leveling charges of voter fraud at their Republican enemy.

Online impeachment petitions are nothing new as the web is loaded with them, but the one launched against Bevin seems to be gaining some support. They are so entrenched with their careless spending and the good life that they don't care that an impeachment hearing and election could cost the commonwealth hundreds of thousands of dollars and wasted man hours.

Living in Kentucky for the past 19 years, I've witnessed the good old boy mentality of the commonwealth's government and find Bevin's willingness to keep his promises and cut the budget to be a refreshing relief. No diet is easy and often hurts and contains unpleasant things in order to reach its goals and that's what's happening with Gov. Bevin. No one said it would be easy or painless, but like an obese person, cannot survive long without going through the pains of dieting.

Hopefully, the petition drive will die online and that the first responsible governor the commonwealth has had in decades survives and continues to run the commonwealth like a business instead of a blank checkbook.

..........there is a daily war in the US, and the world, between the RIGHT and the LEFT, and it has always been with us and always will. The problem is that the RIGHT went to sleep for a few decades and is only just now waking up.

These lefties do not give a damn about what is the right thing to do, they don’t give a damn about patriotism, they don’t give a damn about the veterans, the flag, active duty soldiers, confiscatory taxes, murdering babies or smearing someone’s career or finding common ground. They hate church, they hate employers, they hate ANY successful person, they hate the Constitution, indeed, they even hate God himself Beat em on one issue and they just move to the next relentlessly and without any moral grounding of any kind or nature whatsoever. Harry Reid being the Poster Boy for the left. All the while they’re yelling compromise, compromise, compromise. The right is now saying FY and your compromise. It is about time.

So far they’ve been tougher and more dedicated and tenacious than the right.

Not correct. That is indeed a secondary benefit. But the reason for doing this is that Breshear, IN VIOLATION OF THE KY CONSTITUTION, issued an EO to create the exchange, and this illegality should be corrected. This is clearly a legislative function, not an executive one in Kentucky. Breshear knew this, he knew that the republicans did not have the votes to stop his illegal EO. He also knew (correctly it turns out) that the activist courts would side with him when the Republicans sued him.

Bevin rigging the election would have required the cooperation of Alison Lundergan Grimes - the Democrat, partisan SOS, and a number of Dem County clerks. Embarrasingly nonsensical.

There was something very strange about the election. Not much turnout and somehow the former governor’s son was elected as the Attorney General and the former Governor is still hanging around trying to protect his Obamacare implementation with a “non-profit.” That’s why there is so much friction. While Bevin has supported cutting spending, there is not one tax cut and frankly the economic future of the state feels bleak. Where he is able to keep promises, they are mostly in the social area, such as blocking an unlicensed abortion facility from performing abortions, and printing new County Clerk marriage license forms so that a single-sex marriage uses a different form....
