The Washington Post states that:

"this is a nation consumed by fear, anger and suspicion, none of which are Christian virtues."

"How will America fare in this time of judgment, especially when we admit as evidence the millions of Americans (many of them children and the elderly) who do not have enough good food to eat, or the millions of Americans who have to drink water polluted with lead and industrial/agricultural pollutants?"

and

"What about the refugees and immigrants who are being refused at our borders and made to feel unwelcome in our land, or the homeless (many of them ill) who do not have a home and proper protection from the elements, or the prison inmates (many of them African American) who are treated like the garbage of society?"

So now demanding an end to lawlessness in Government and enforcement of the law is “fear, anger and suspicion”?

2008 showed that, well-enough.

I figured this would be an anti-Trump article, stating that it was the end of Christian America because evangelicals were voting for Trump.

Dear Progressives

Please sight for me the verse in the Bible where Christ states “take from the productive and give to the Political class so that they can buy the votes of certain activist groups in the name of “compassion”.

Like most Progressives trying to use Religiob to validate their Leftist political agenda, they miss the fact responsibility for your fellow man is a personal duty of the Christan, not one they can collectively push off onto the Government.

Wow! MILLIONS of Americans (many children and elderly) do not have enough water and food? What’s Obama been doing these last 8 years!?

All the po’ folk I see using the Lone Star card in front of me at Walmart are buying much more, and oftentimes much better food than I am. Although I see a lot more flavored drinks, sodas, and such rather than water, and lot more snacks and sugary treats than vegetables.

So breaking the law and encouraging lawless behavior is now virtuous? What strange world we live in.

The Washington Post now wants me to think it cared about Christian ethics in America.

Their comics section has expanded.

Seems WaPo is eager to help usher in the Muslim Revolution here on US soil.

Since when did anyone at WaPo become an expert on Christian values?

As for the “water polluted with lead”, where was Obama’s EPA?

On the one hand they pretend to be concerned with American children and the elderly...

“What about the refugees and immigrants who are being refused at our borders and made to feel unwelcome in our land, or the homeless (many of them ill) who do not have a home and proper protection from the elements, or the prison inmates (many of them African American) who are treated like the garbage of society?”

...On the other hand they want to give what little they have to illegal invaders and prison inmates who are the garbage of society! (not so much the prison inmates)

“refugees and immigrants who are being refused at our borders...or the homeless”

We don’t have enough affordable housing and the leftists want to let in more people?

Loony leftists are the bane of American politics.

Like I would pay any attention to people who think God is fine with homosexuality though His own words say otherwise.

We declared the end of Christian government a long time ago. But one thing Christianity is good at is resurrection. And it looks like something is stirring in the grave.

many if not most election for higher office are rigged by the corrupt and wealthy, thus, those elected to public office are in no way reflective of who the voting public are nor what they want

Seems to me the good doctor of philosophy at Duke isn’t really accounting for the fact that Christianity is a personal religion...and for all of his demand that we care for the poor, love the unloved, feed the hungry, etc., he overlooks the FACT that the Christian community has been doing that for hundreds of years.

Even a CURSORY reading of history will show that POVERTY decreased as the church was allowed to do her mission, and POVERTY INCREASED as the *STATE* began to push religion aside (the 30s, and increasingly more so in the 60s) and to take over the “responsibility” of eliminating social ills like poverty.

I went to this man’s web site and looked at his curriculum Vitae. He is highly educated and is probably a good conversationalist...but it amazes me so much that the SIMPLEST truths can escape the most intelligent.

Paul was correct when he wrote that the wisdom of this world is foolishness to God. I know he was speaking of salvation, but the analogy fits here, too.

We may indeed be ready to take the mantle of “Christian” away from America, but that is because the GOVERNMENT and SOCIETY has trod upon the notion of freedoms and liberty that are inherent in the Christian worldview—not because Christianity has stopped the ethic of loving one’s neighbor.

sff

P.S. Christians have, I think, often abdicated their call to be engaged. So we aren’t off the hook. Our Saviour has called us to be a people of prayer and love, and I have failed miserably. My overall feeling is that I am not alone in that respect. May we (I) repent and pray for mercy.
