Karl Rove believes there is still time for Republicans who don't want Donald Trump to be the 2016 GOP nominee to get behind a candidate - but it's running out.
In an op-ed in The Wall Street Journal out Wednesday night, the former senior adviser to President George W. Bush took stock of Trump's recent string of victories.

Before the op-ed was published on Wednesday, Trump was already going after Rove on his favorite medium of attack.
"Big defeat last night in Nevada for Ted Cruz and Marco Rubio. @KarlRove on @FoxNews is working hard to belittle my victory. Rove is sick!" Trump tweeted. "In all of television- the only one who said anything bad about last nights landslide victory-- was dopey @KarlRove. He should be fired!"

This Republican “consultant class” is really in the sweet spot. Wrong, consistently, ineffective, lame. And they still pull in huge money.
One of these days Fox is going to come to the realization that having someone on who is so utterly wrong, so consistently, is not a ratings getter.
I think Rove knows time was running out the day Trumnp announced his candidacy. So long as he is on the payroll to blab, he just blabs on.

I’m no fan of Karl Rove, but as some point Trump needs to start defending himself, his ideas, and his vision for America with something other than 3rd grade insults. At some point, the ‘shiny object’ that is The Donald will wear thin.
He’s running for President of the United States, not prom king.

Trump can't win. Trump can't lose. Polls say such-and-such. Polls are wrong. It's too late. It's not too late. Money matters. Money doesn't matter. Advertising is key. Advertising doesn't matter. No endorsements spell trouble. Endorsements don't mean much.
It's like someone gave a multiple choice quiz on political journalism to a bunch of 4th graders.

Because his employers, The Cheap Labor Express, have demanded that somebody stop Trump.
Trump will put all the cheap labor importers out of business.
They have manipulated us into voting for amnesty candidates in every election since the last amnesty.
Rep. Trent Franks, an Arizona Republican, sent the letter to fellow Republicans Wednesday evening. He’s asking would-be signers to back his push to rally the establishment around either the Florida or Texas senator in an effort to defeat Donald Trump, the current frontrunner for the GOP nomination.
The letter argues that one candidate should continue on in the presidential race while the other is named a vice presidential candidate.

I agree with Amanda Carpenter on this one. Ted Cruz supporters are not going to support a Gang of Eight senator.
If Cruz drops out, his support migrates to Trump, not Rubio.
I think it's why Trump isn't conceding Texas to Cruz. If Cruz is beaten, Rubio is done. Cruz splits the anti-establishment vote. He's not eating into the establishment piece of the pie.
Back then I think RINOs were still hiding out in Elephant suits!-)

The interview part starts at 19 minutes in, if you’d rather skip the Trump monologue. I thought Robertson asked very good questions and Trump gave very good answers.
Just as it’s a mistake to try to judge a cheerleaders academic abilities by how she shakes a pompom, it’s wrong to judge Trump’s vision and ideas by the performance he has to put on when confronted by a “debate” audience made up of GOPe donors and a hostile moderator. Just suggesting to have a listen and then see if you still feel he’s running for prom king ;-)
