Why Trump Is Winning on Jobs and the Economy
Real Clear Politics ^ | February 24,2016 | Andy Puzder

Jobs and the economy are top of mind for voters from both parties this election cycle according to a recent Gallup poll. This is hardly a surprise. But what was a surprise to many is the importance of immigration and free trade as economic issues for working class voters and the level of betrayal they feel with respect to their governments handling of these issues.

These voters feel stuck between free trade policies that encourage companies to move good paying jobs outside the U.S. and the failure to enforce our immigration laws allowing people here illegally to take jobs that remain. While the economic wisdom of legal immigration and free trade policies is compelling, politicians would be well advised not to minimize these voters concerns.

These voters are a proxy for all working class voters whose concerns cut across racial and ethnic barriers. Any candidate seriously intent on winning the presidency in 2016 must understand why they didn’t show up in 2012 and, more importantly, how to get them to show up in 2016. That will require solutions on how working class voters (white, Hispanics, black or Asian) can build a better life, pursue a career, find a path to the middle class, send their kids to college and retire with dignity.

Republican candidates should proclaim at every opportunity a simple, relatable and heartfelt economic message that allows working class Americans to believe their candidate is protecting their interests. In different times, they believed it about Ronald Reagan and Bill Clinton. Today they believe it about Donald Trump. The question for the rest of the Republican field is whether they will believe it about anyone else.

This is what he said last July. Deport them, then allow the ‘good ones’ to return.

Trump said Wednesday in an interview with CNN’s Dana Bash that as president he would deport all undocumented immigrants and then allow the “good ones” to reenter the country through an “expedited process” and live in the U.S. legally, though not as citizens.

For the same reason people bought Trump’s junk bonds (and then lost all their money): Trump is a good salesman.

Come on, son. Over-regulation, unions, and among the highest corporate taxes in the world are at the core of the problem. You skipped right over that part.

I don’t see many really discussing the economy and jobs in particular. Probably every one of the ‘insiders’ have played a part one way or another in scrooing up our economy and employment picture.

Trump is a proven job creator. He’s a proven no BS businessman. Exquisite taste in women...

There’s really no other way to go.

Then Make China play fairly. Go Trump!

Populism and nationalism exist on a different plane than left or right ideology.

Yes. I’m happy all the Cruz supporters onl have to worry about the consititution. The Cruz people seem to be doing really well in the Obama economy so they can only look at the constitution.

Some of us just want a good job. Cruz never talks about this at all. But omg we have to replace the SC Justice that’s number one!

Hey smartguy - high yield bonds were sold in the free market at then current market prices to willing buyers. It’s up to those buying to decide if it’s a risk worth taking. Your people passed on the deal - so what?

There are also fair disclosure laws, are there not? Are you accusing the Trump people of fraud or withholding material information?

So you had a hand in bond trading - we’re all proud of you. Or were you really just the gofer for coffee during the breaks?

I’ve been heavily short HYG for months now, and I’m a Trump supporter - how do you like them apples?

Just curious, but what has Trump said that makes you believe that he will get you a good job?.

Why Trump Is Winning on Jobs and the Economy

For the same reason Sanders is winning on college campuses. Both promise the moon without a clue as to how they can deliver.

The problem is that this came as a surprise to ANYBODY.

If you can’t answer that question, you are a Cruzer and deserve him. Good luck with that. Cruz will lose.

Yes, which is why Trump will make a serious dent in Democrat vote totals.

Trump won’t but the improved environment of business friendly policies will. He knows what it take to provide the template through policy, the businesses will take care of the rest.

Seems to me that you cant answer the question.
So, do you think that Cruz should stay in the Senate after he looses the nomination?, or since he apparently is the one of the worst people in politics today, should he just head off into the sunset?.

Thanks for the actual reply.
I hope it works out, but I have my doubts.

Who knows maybe everything he is saying he will attempt to do.

I think Trump is winning on the jobs and economy because the guys with “Senator” and “Congressman” in front of their names haven’t done one thing to fix the problems. They are the problem.

Also, Trump has created thousands of jobs; no other candidate has created one. Trump understands the economy and can play it like a fiddle; the remaining top two can’t handle their own personal finances.

Of course, that’s just my opinion; I could be wrong.
