Ted Cruz Up 8 Points In Latest Texas Poll
Breitbart ^ | 3 Feb 2016 | Jordan Schachtel

Posted on 02/23/2016 3:10:42 PM PST by justlittleoleme

With Super Tuesday just one week away, Sen. Ted Cruz remains the favorite to win his home state, according to a new poll.

Cruz is polling well in Texas. A survey published Tuesday by the University of Texas/Texas Tribune says he is 8 points in front of rival Republican candidate Donald Trump, with 37 percent support to Trump’s 29 percent. Texas has the most delegates of any March 1 primary state.

They are trailed by Sen. Marco Rubio with 15 percent support, followed by Jeb Bush (who has now dropped out of the race) at 6 percent. Gov. John Kasich (R-OH) and Dr. Ben Carson trail the field with 5 and 4 percent respectively.

Tea Party supporters overwhelmingly favor Cruz, 56 percent to Trump’s 26 percent. Rubio, though he ran for the Senate as a Tea Party-backed candidate, only grabbed 8 percent of citizens who identified with the constitutional conservative group.

Trump struggled the most with younger voters, according to the poll. He secured only 10 percent support from voters aged 18-29. His best performing age bracket fell in the 45-64 range.

Rubio’s most favorable age group came from the 65+ bracket.

Cruz led all age groups, but performed best with voters aged 30-44.

I thought you two fine Texans might be interested in something I received from a fellow FReeper (whose identity must remain undislosed per their request), there apparently is some talk that a major endorsement could be coming for Trump in Texas, I doubt that it would be Cornyn (senior Senator) and I cannot possibly imagine it being anyone from the Bush clan, so to me that leaves two possibilities, Ross Perot OR:

Governor Greg Abbott.

Keep your ears to the ground and let us all know what (if anything) you might hear?

I understand Cruz or nothing we go home folks are getting their nasties on

But the Title says Cruz numbers up by 8 percent in new poll which makes it sound like he’s increased his margin by 8 which he hasn’t

Another thread on this precise poll....how many times will you guys post it?

Anyhow it says Cruz leading by 8 in new UT poll which is more accurate

There is no new here except Cruz is down from where he started in Texas against Trump but since Christmas it’s been a 4-8 point spread in favor of Cruz

Cruz people often lie as bad as they claim Trump flip flops

Yet according to yourselves you guys are the real conservatives and more Christ like than we not so conservative sinners gullible enough to follow just our emotions and our snake oil peddler candidate

You’re better than us basically

In Mississippi you guys would have gone to Ole Miss

We would have gone to State

....except I went to Ole Miss

Cruz is a milquetoast Rep in the mold of McCain and Romney. They won't attack Hillary personally while her henchmen take him apart. Hell, McCain said that we shouldn't even use Obama's middle name nor were Rev Wright, Bill Ayers, etc ever uttered by McCain. And Romney was also above the fray and ashamed of his wealth and accomplishments. Losers all.

Ted Cruz says Bill Clinton not an issue in presidential race

Ted Cruz says he won’t use former President Bill Clinton’s political liabilities against Democratic presidential contender and former first lady Hillary Clinton.

"I am not interested in getting into personal attacks and innuendo," he said Tuesday at a news conference in Cisco. "Hillary Clinton's biggest liability is that her policies are a disaster."

New York businessman Donald Trump, the front-runner in the Republican race for president, has used Twitter to black Bill Clinton as abusive to women.

"If Hillary thinks she can unleash her husband, with his terrible record of women abuse, while playing the women's card on me, she's wrong!" Mr. Trump said Monday via Twitter.

Cruz says he won't engage in such attacks.

The best Cruz can do is about 100:50 delegates vs. Trump, assuming neither breaks 50%, and nobody else (Rubio) breaks 20%. Trump can take delegates from Cruz by winning districts, and I figure the best Trump can do is reverse the 100:50 to be in HIS favor, with possible outcomes being anywhere in between, all driven district by district. It’s quite possible for them to split the state, 78:77.

Agree. For me, the big prize is the winner take all state of FL on March 15, which starts the winner take all phase of the campaign. If Trump wins here, it is definitely all over.

For the last 20 years Texas has been about the only state that has had any sense left. Not ONE Democrat has won a statewide race in over 20 years in Texas. Top that! Please.

No we are simply defending ourselves against those who claim they are our superior conservatives and intellectually and of course in Gods eyes too

That some call us Nazis on top of it is par for the course

You gonna sit home in November?

I wish Trump would pick Ted just to watch the most offensive such as yourself squirm and parse

Great, I can play that game.

You people have already been playing it - LOUDLY. The amount of Christian bashing on this board by Trump supporters bashing Cruz supporters was truly disgusting this past weekend.

Which is why the comparison to rabid supporters of other peoples who lofted a false political messiah who speaks in nothing but platitudes and appeals to their base natures is appropriate.

I'm not saying Trump is Hitler. I am saying that rabid Trump supporters exhibit the same traits that made a madman their Fuhrer, and it does not bode well for the survival of a Republic.

If Trump picked Cruz for VP, which he won’t, Cruz people would vote for Trump in November so that when they carted him off to the nut house later Cruz could be president.

LOL - not only did I live in Arlington for 3 years but you’re oblivious to information technology.

I would not be surprised if you’re in Austin...

Nice try...but you will fail again if you continue to cling bitterly to your delusion that Sarah Palin = Glenn Beck. In fact, any normal freeper would reject your delusion.

What I do in November is irrelevant.

I wish Trump would pick Ted just to watch the most offensive such as yourself squirm and parse

You know, I do have to correct myself when it comes to some of you Rabid Trump supporters. You are more like the Ron Paul mob zombies from 2008. The difference is that at least Ron Paul articulated with specifics his plans to achieve what his platform said needed fixing.

Trump seems to appeal to the basest desires and instincts of a population that wants revenge and celebrates his vile accusations against others in the party he is running on.

Which is why the pic from the 1930's, 2008 and last week is so appropriate.

The rest of Texas ain’t Austin.
Trump must be cackling over this poll. It just might be another slaughter—not a sweep this time, but a blow-out.

ONLY because of YOU, wardaddy, I took the time to read the poll at the link and discovered one important fact:

Correction:
After the poll results were published, the pollsters discovered a miscalculation in their margin of error for likely Republican voters. The correct MOE is +/- 4.86 percentage points.

Texas is a must win for Cruz, but NOT for Trump. We'll see how it goes, given that this poll were concluded the night before the results of South Carolina were known ...

Trump will have a lot of mojo coming into Super Tuesday, after his big win in Nevada tonight. Trump will win Texas.
