With Jeb Bush out, Donald Trump has widened his lead in the race for the Republican presidential nomination.
The latest Rasmussen Reports national telephone survey of Likely Republican Voters finds Trump with 36% support, giving him a 15-point lead over Senator Marco Rubio who earns 21% of the vote. Senator Ted Cruz is in third place with 17%.
For Trump, that's a five-point gain in support from the beginning of this month just after the Iowa caucus and right before the New Hampshire primary when it was Trump 31%, Rubio 21% and Cruz 20% among likely GOP voters. Rubio's support has held steady, while support for Cruz has fallen slightly.
In mid-December, Trump led with 29% Republican support, with Cruz in second with 18% and Rubio at 15%.

I’m very confident the last thing Ms. Clinton wants is to face Trump one on one. I don’t see see her subjecting herself to total complete political annihilation.
Yeah. Things haven't changed that much for him.
Now, if the lower vote candidates would get the heck out of the way, we can finally get down to a serious campaign. There's still 46 states to go.
Cruz needs to run as "The NOT-TRUMP candidate", because Trumps support is stagnate. He could pick up the rational votes.
Not everyone is for single payer health care, PP funding, increased ethanol subsidies, or Loretta Lynch on the Supreme court. Cruz needs to speak out loud an clear that he opposes these things.
Why should any candidate make a deal with Cruz? What does he have to offer other than a few disgruntled freepers?
Hear Erickson on the radio last night. Not sure if he is serious, or going shock-jock to get ratings.
He certainly can’t do math. He was trying to make the case that if Cruz dropped out, ALL of his support would go to Rubio (and visa-versa).
He seems to be under the impression that anyone who isn’t voting for Trump is voting against Trump. It doesn’t occur to him that there are people voting FOR Cruz or Rubio; that liking Cruz or Rubio best doesn’t mean they hate Trump.
Trump is right. If Either Cruz or Rubio dropped out, Trump would pick up some of their supporters. Heck, Trump even picked up some of Jeb’s supporters.
Trump has not even started on Hillary, IMHO, because he wants the Hillary/Bernie civil war within the Dem party to continue for as long as possible, and for Hillary to be too busy fighting Bernie to bother Trump.
This is bad it is for Cruz!
Cruz now vows to deport all illegal aliens
GOP candidate would send federal agents to ‘look for people’ in U.S.
We don’t need a frigg’n Parrot!
That’s right, Plenty of time for Hillary. She’s not going to like what’s coming for her.
God looked down at Cruz and said, “Not in my name!”
“Looks like Cruz is going the way of Bush....time will tell.”
For Cruz, and so many others, this was just not the year.
The media is already sitting on 2 anti-Trump documentaries, and they have half a century of dirt on him. He's been buddy buddy with the democrats and left wing media all his life, and he has a tendency to shoot his mouth off.
EVERYTHING is on the shelf and waiting. It will ALL come pouring out once he wins the primaries (is he makes it).
You Trump supporters think the "Cruzbots" are mean. You haven't seen anything yet. They party hasn't even started. The left is going to slaughter him.
That's an interesting scenario. Hillary has too much of an ego to pick a VP who might out-shine her. What DOES happen if Hillary has a major health issue between the nomination and the election?
The media? They’ve been publicly exposed for what they are. Come on. They’ve become like government. Few have any trust or faith left for them.
I'm not sure where you're getting this but the last poll I saw (done 2-21-16) showed just about the opposite off your statement.
Trump-37.7
Cruz -18.2

He's right.
1) Those polls are all within the margin of error. So what? The most you can glean from them is that it will be a close race.
2) I’m old enough to remember (and voted in) the 1980 election.
In Feb. of 1980 Jimmy Carter was beating Ronald Reagan in every poll. The biggest argument against Reagan then was that he would lose to Carter. The Democrats were actively asking people to crossover in open primary states and vote for Reagan, because they thought he would be the easiest for Carter to beat.
Remind me again, how did the election actually work out in November of 1980?
National polls show Cruz would beat Trump if it were down to 2. (google it. Choose your own source)
I don’t think anybody has DIED under Trump’s leadership like in Benghazi! I don’t think the ME exploded under Trumps guidance! I don’t think Russia and the US are basically in another cold war under Trumps leadership!
What are they gonna do? Expose an extramarital affair he had?
That Atlantic City is infested with the mob and He owned a gambling establishment there?
Pahhh-leeese!
“What happens if Hillary wins the nomination, and the Bernie supporters stay home in November? “
Watching that woman yell into a microphone as she attempts to play leader, is probably more than anyone capable of critical thought should be subjected to.
