U.S. officials say the Pentagon's long-awaited plan to shut down the detention center at Guantanamo Bay, Cuba, and transfer the remaining detainees to a facility in the United States calls for up to $475 million in construction costs that would ultimately be offset by as much as $180 million per year in operating cost savings.
The plan, which will be delivered to Congress Tuesday, is the administration's last-ditch effort to make good on President Barack Obama's campaign vow to close Guantanamo and convince lawmakers to allow the Defense Department to move nearly 60 detainees to the U.S. But the plan provides few details, and may only further antagonize members of Congress who have repeatedly passed legislation banning any effort to move detainees to the U.S.
Rep. Mac Thornberry, R-Texas, chairman of House Armed Services Committee, has said his panel would hold a hearing on a closure plan. But he sent a letter to Obama warning that Congress has made clear what details must be included in any plan and that anything less than that would be unacceptable.

Does the ‘plan’ factor in the untold billions that Obama will have to spend to bribe arab countries to take them for a period long enough for the media to forget?
Sen. Yertle, Ryan, and the RINO herd collapse into a steaming pile in 3, 2, 1...

The Pentagon is now Obama’s bee-yaaatch.
The next POTUS is going to have to purge the officer corps in a very serious way.
US Government failure and stupidity on so many levels.
This black piece of garbage is America’s worst terrorists.
If they do, Trump will reopen Gitmo, except it probably won’t be as nice because he’ll put Sheriff Joe in charge.
Good thing prisoners never escape from maximum security prisons or this would be a no brainer.
The next POTUS is going to have to purge the officer corps in a very serious way.
And call back most of the officers the POS purged out.
Unfortunately, Obama will most likely terminate the lease and give Gitmo back to the Castros, maybe during his love fest visit next month. He intends to make it impossible to reopen Gitmo and to help the Communists as much as possible. He might even give Cuba US aid funding to "mitigate" the impact of US actions and for pollution cleanup.
Money buy what about security?
If all.Obama desires is to see money, then why have any military.
