The best thing that could happen is that the issue is settled once and for all. Obama, Cruz, and Rubio all have different situations, so there's no guarantee they'd all be settled the same way. The established definition should be concise so any person knows for sure what their status is. Rather than wait for the crisis spell it out now. Maybe the ONLY thing McCain ever did right was to get it established that born on a military base meant natural born citizen before he ran.

Republicans were absolutely derelict in not bringing the issue through the courts for a definition before Obama ran a second time. I was shocked when he first ran that there was no procedure to confirm that a candidate for US President was qualified to run.

If it isn't settled, you could run into crazy situations in the future where someone could be President of two countries at the same time, or someone brought up in an ISIS camp could be President, etc.

Exactly! This all started when Trump said Cruz’s position was -precarious-. Rubio and Cruz should have settled these issues long ago. The fault lies with them!
