Scarborough Mercilessly Mocks Rubio's 'Firewall' in Nevada
NewsBusters ^ | Mark Finkelstein

Posted on 02/22/2016 7:37:48 AM PST by governsleastgovernsbest

If there was one theme on today's Morning Joe, it was Joe Scarborough's relentless, merciless mocking of the notion that Marco Rubio has an electoral "firewall" in Nevada. It began with Mika Brzezinski's citing of a National Review article from December that spoke of such a firewall. Joe, butter not melting in his mouth, turned to Mark Halperin, coyly wondering why he was laughing at the notion. Halperin opined that, in fact, Donald Trump was likely to carry Nevada with his biggest margin yet.

Scarborough returned repeatedly to his routine, even working it into a Richard Haass report on the upcoming elections in Iran, with Scarborough declaring that Rubio had a "firewall" there, too. It was a pitiless Scarborough pile-on, persisting right through the show-closing "What Have We Learned?" segment, in which Joe claimed that "Nevada is Spanish for Rubio" and that, yes, one more time, Rubio has a firewall there.

“Immigration is a big issue in this state. Nevada has thousands of illegals-—mostly in the southern part of the state, but we all get taxed to pay for all the benefits they get.”

When trying to figure out where to relocate to when planning on escaping Mexifornia, I figured I had to go more than 3 states away from the border. Thanks for the corroboration!

Mexican gangs have about taken over Reno also and are moving into Carson City.

The Republican party in Nevada is worthless and corrupt. They were in the tank for Bush, now that he’s dropped out, it looks like Rubio. Heller just switched his endorsement from Bush to Rubio.

I can't believe i'm saying this but "Morning Joe" has been a far better, and fairer, source of info and commentary on the presidential campaign than Fox New Channel's s GOPe propaganda.

Thanks for the tip.
Bye bye Megyn and that douchebag Jerry Rivers...!

“If Trump wins NV, the media will say the real winner is Cruz or Rubio.”

Exactly. If Trump does not get 50% in Nevada, Rove and the pun-dents will say he lost.

They will say Trump actually lost up until January 20, 2017, when they cannot say it anymore.

There’s something oddly personal in Scarborough’s attacks on Rubio, especially considering Rubio is pretty much the poster boy for RINOism.

So, we say no to “socialism” by running a guy who loves eminent domain, the individual mandate and crony capitalism?

Ohhhkay...

Meet the New Boss. Same as the Old Boss.

Do you really know where Trump will stand tomorrow?

Nope, and I freely admit it. What I do know is that no one knows where ANY of them will stand tomorrow...can you freely admit that?

I see some candidates with core principles where I can predict they will stand tomorrow. You can nitpick about small details, but they have a consistent record.

Let's agree to disagree on that. I think that any professional, career politician, is consistent in that they serve their financial donors. That is where the frustration and anger of the voter emanates. It is not because that the average American voter thinks he/she is being ignored, it's because the average American voter knows he/she is being ignored.

Trump is part of the donor class. If you would not have trusted a candidate receiving donations from him, then why would you trust him. I want a candidate that at least knows the Constitution and would adhere to the limits of the office.

Please...

You do know that Ted Cruz's wife holds the second highest position at Goldman Sachs...right?

When it comes to donor class, the Cruz duo represents both sides, in the same bed, under one roof!

I don't see Heidi dishing out donations trying to buy influence like Trump does.

The Goldman Sachs/CFR smears have been around a while.

Anatomy of a Smear: Heidi Cruz and the "North American Union"

Nor will you, unless you are a peeping Tom!

It is not a smear, it is an actual fact...Heidi Cruz is an executive at Goldman Sachs.

Simple fact.

She is on a temporary leave of absence during his campaign.

BTW:
In 2003, she worked for the Bush administration on economic policy,[1][20] eventually becoming the director for the Western Hemisphere on the National Security Council under National Security Advisor Condoleezza Rice in 2003.[1][19][21] Cruz remembered liking her tenure with the Bush administration and found her work to be “personally fulfilling.”[22] After commuting to see her husband for a year,[23] she left Washington DC in 2004 to support his run for elective office in Texas.[24] Cruz did not see this as her giving up her career but merely as relocating, and she took her time to become use to the new environment, initially difficult since most of her family was in California and she had several colleagues in New York.[22]
In 2005, she joined Goldman Sachs, serving as a private wealth manager[25] and is currently the Region Head for the Southwest Region in the Investment Management Division of Goldman Sachs in Houston.[1][19][26] Peter Conway, Cruz’s employer, assisted in her recruitment and was impressed by her being among the first to arrive and last to leave, remembering her doing well in a field of men. Conway would later recommend her to lead the office. Cruz used politics to gain common ground with her clients and deployed her husband to join her in meeting with potential investors.[23] She had served as vice president for seven years before the promotion in 2013.[27] She took a leave of absence without pay for her husband’s 2016 presidential campaign.[24]
