Donald Trump has often promised to repeal the “disaster” that is Obamacare and he’s right, it is a disaster.
But at Thursday night’s CNN Republican Presidential Town Hall in South Carolina, Donald Trump embraced what is easily the worst part of Obamacare, the anti-free market “individual mandate” which forces Americans to buy only government-approved health care insurance, whether they want to or not.
To justify his support for the Obamacare mandate, Donald Trump uses leftist talking points of not wanting people to “die in the streets,” as if they has ever happened in America — before or after Obamacare.
Here’s how Donald Trump answered CNN’s Anderson Cooper last night (emphasis added):
DONALD TRUMP:“Well, I like the mandate. OK. So here’s where I’m a little bit different. I don’t want people dying on the streets and I say this all the time. And I say this – look, I did five speeches, maybe six speeches today. We had a lot of rallies. We had of thousands and thousands of people. I mean, we get big crowds.“
Allow me to break down the “logic” of this:

So you chose to cling to the lie pumped out by the campaign bots rather then bother learning inconvenient facts that challenge your emotional dogmas?
You don’t get to ignore the context of the question in order to manufacture an attack line. When you do, people are going to point out that you are lying.
Candidates come and go, a reputation as a liar follows publications, and authors, around for the rest of their lives.
Don’t believe me? Have a chat with Dan Rather.
With the government subsidizing it. Just like Obamacare. But how is he going to make it a whole lot better and a whole lot cheaper?
Do you think Bernie or Hillary will be great for America?
I like Cruz in the primary, but if he doesn’t make it and Trump does, I will be all in for Trump in the general.
I’d crawl over broken glass to try to keep Hillary or Bernie out of the White house. Those of you who have a problem with that can kiss my grits!! (please spread that to all your friends)
Trump might not, Cruz will not. I'll take the known over the unknown every time.
“Will be interesting to read the excuses from trump supporters.”
The Canadian is becoming unhinged.
You are the one spinning desperately to try and make us believe that Trump meant something different than what he clearly said.
Only people spinning here are desperate poo flinging Cruzies who know they are going to lose big tomorrow.
Donald J. Trump â@realDonaldTrump 17m
I was referring to a backstop for pre-existing conditions. I will eliminate the law, in its entirety, & replace it w/ something much better.

Here's your certificate:
If I’m reading correctly, and admittedly I don’t always, Apple has offered to unlock the phone and give the data from it to the court. They are unwilling to give up how to unlock it. They say that it is to protect the consumer.
Where were the answers in that interview? I saw a whole lot of smoke and no real fire.
“Which mandate? There are two mandates:”
Mandate #3.. You must accept a Canadian as a presidential candidate.
“something much better?” He supports government run health insurance. I don’t want “something much better” with some government bureaucrat making political decisions about what politically correct malady is covered, and what voting bloc’s diseases can be ignored (ie “addadictomies for trannies but no hips for grannies”) I want a market based solution in which the government plays little to no role.
Sorry. I got here late.
Please look at the graphic in post 5 which makes it perfectly clear what mandate Trump endorsed. Anderson Cooper defined the mandate in his question as the “mandate for everybody to have insurance.” That is clearly not the requirement that indigents have access to healthcare.
None of these alleged Trump misstatements are going to change his supporters minds. The desperation and panic from those suffering from TDS is manifest.
Cruz will for one reason. There is no way he would beat Hillary in the general. No way
Add to that that he was for the TPP and is wavy on illegal immigration / amnesty and tgat he has major donors to feed whose interests will always come ahead of ours and that of the constitution
Just saying
I agree completely.
Regarding obamacare: How many mandates are there?
Like what?
I’m sorry, but I’m not going to accept that my son has to die because he contracted a incurable disease as a child. I’m not going to accept that children who’ve survived cancer must die at the age of 18 because they can no longer get medical care. I’m not going to accept that kids with cystic fibrosis must plan their funerals at the age of 18 because they can’t get coverage. I won’t accept that my daughter has to die at the age of 18 because she has a heart murmur and no insurance will cover her.
YOU can go ahead and let YOUR kids die right after they graduate from high school, but don’t count me in on your eugenics plan.
And yes, sit. I’ll fight you and everyone else tooth-and-nail to protect my kids.
