After Saturday's very important South Carolina Republican Primary, the presidential nomination process kicks into a whole new gear.
Three days later, on Tuesday, Republicans in Nevada will gather for their caucus. U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) isn't waiting for Saturday night's results from the Palmetto State to launch his efforts in the Silver State. He unveiled his first Nevada-specific ad on Thursday afternoon.
The 30-second spot, titled "Nevada Land," continues the Cruz campaign's attacks on Republican front-runner Donald Trump over the issue of eminent domain and federal ownership of land. It features Cruz speaking directly to the voters:
"Eighty five percent of Nevada is owned and regulated by the federal government. And Donald Trump wants to keep big government in charge. That's ridiculous.
"You, the people of Nevada, not Washington bureaucrats, should be in charge of your own land. If you trust me with your vote, I will fight day and night to return full control of Nevada's lands to its rightful owners—its citizens. Count on it."
Trump currently holds a 22-point lead over Cruz in recent polls, according to Real Clear Politics. But unlike in Iowa, Nevada delegates aren't bound to the results of the caucus popular vote, making the Silver State a test of organizational strength rather than get-out-the-vote efforts.
Cruz got a boost in that regard, as well, on Thursday. Carl Bunce, who was Rand Paul's senior advisor in Nevada, announced his endorsement and encouraged "libertarian-leaning conservatives" to caucus for the Texas senator.
Bunce joins former Huckabee state leaders Assemblyman John Ellison and former Nevada Republican Party National Committeeman James Smack, who also endorsed Cruz.
"In Nevada and throughout the country, a growing coalition of courageous conservatives continue to unite around us, and I'm thrilled to have Carl joining our team," Cruz said. "Carl has been a staunch advocate for the liberty movement in Nevada and throughout our nation. He brings great experience to our campaign in uniting and turning out libertarian-leaning Republicans, and ensuring they stay engaged in the political process and have their voices heard in the upcoming election."
Most Americans have not thought through their understanding of “Federal lands”. They think in terms of “Parks”, and have grown up with that notion, and have never been disavowed of it in schools.
The should read Rob Natelson’s scholarly summaries on the federal ownership of land:

You can give that trophy to yourself because clearly you don’t know what really happened. You actually cite a wiki article that trumpbots have edited.
So Trump had a local government agency, the Casino Reinvestment Development Authority (CRDA), do the dirty work of seizing her property. CRDA offered her $250,000 for the property; one-fourth of what another hotel builder had offered her a decade earlier. When Coking would not budge, CRDA went to court to seize her property under eminent domain.
If he’s going to the Scalia funeral Saturday, how could he be going back to TX now?
Quit your frigging stalking. I do not want any of your whining crap let alone 3 of the same messages based on bs.
proof or more Cruz lies?
Cruz now has a track record of lying in this campaign. So may as well continue it!
Amazing how many times you post what really happened, the mentally deficient keep posting their lies/bs.
No Trumpy doesn’t want federal lands turned over to states.
Another big government position by trumpie.
Oh yeh, remind us of that and we will rush out and vote for Cruz /s ;)
Hookers are voting for Hillary. :)
Yes, it’s been that way since we went to caucus. Completely dishonest, bought and paid for. Remember voters went pretty much Ron Paul and the delegates went Romney.
So Cruz realizes SC is a lost cause and is moving on.
Exactly. Trump is up 26% in Nevada, too. It’s over.
Cruz has the cash, support, and guts to keep this going a long while.
Rubio is more a favorite son here in Nevada over Cruz.
If you don’t like getting replies, then you should not be replying yourself ;-)
I’ve not said one thing derogatory about anyone. I’ve just pointed out the fact that Wiki articles are often wrong. And then I pointed out that a wiki article I used was wrong as well! It just so happens that at nearly the same time I pointed out your “reality” comment based on a wiki article was wrong. I was called out on another thread for using a wiki article that was wrong as well.
I was trying to say...see we shouldn’t rely on wiki. I too got burned by it.
Sorry if you don’t like someone pointing out the facts.
..”If you trust me with your vote, I will fight day and night to return full control
of Nevada’s lands to its rightful owners - its citizens. Count on it.”..
**************
If it’s the correct thing to do based upon their vote why isn’t Cruz now fighting
to turn the federal lands over to the Nevada Citizens? The feds own a lot of land in
the west and Cruz knows that. So bribe me with your votee. LOL.
I hear Trump took a Dump today. Via eminent domain.
:-)
It's amazing when multiple confirmed sources prove otherwise and refute what wiki states, you still believe the reality you want to believe in.
Cruz is the one guy who went to Iowa and said he was against ethanol subsidies. And he won. He’s proven to be honest about what he’ll do and say.
