After Saturday's very important South Carolina Republican Primary, the presidential nomination process kicks into a whole new gear.
Three days later, on Tuesday, Republicans in Nevada will gather for their caucus. U.S. Sen. Ted Cruz (R-Texas) isn't waiting for Saturday night's results from the Palmetto State to launch his efforts in the Silver State. He unveiled his first Nevada-specific ad on Thursday afternoon.
The 30-second spot, titled "Nevada Land," continues the Cruz campaign's attacks on Republican front-runner Donald Trump over the issue of eminent domain and federal ownership of land. It features Cruz speaking directly to the voters:
"Eighty five percent of Nevada is owned and regulated by the federal government. And Donald Trump wants to keep big government in charge. That's ridiculous.
"You, the people of Nevada, not Washington bureaucrats, should be in charge of your own land. If you trust me with your vote, I will fight day and night to return full control of Nevada's lands to its rightful owners—its citizens. Count on it."
Trump currently holds a 22-point lead over Cruz in recent polls, according to Real Clear Politics. But unlike in Iowa, Nevada delegates aren't bound to the results of the caucus popular vote, making the Silver State a test of organizational strength rather than get-out-the-vote efforts.
Cruz got a boost in that regard, as well, on Thursday. Carl Bunce, who was Rand Paul's senior advisor in Nevada, announced his endorsement and encouraged "libertarian-leaning conservatives" to caucus for the Texas senator.
Bunce joins former Huckabee state leaders Assemblyman John Ellison and former Nevada Republican Party National Committeeman James Smack, who also endorsed Cruz.
"In Nevada and throughout the country, a growing coalition of courageous conservatives continue to unite around us, and I'm thrilled to have Carl joining our team," Cruz said. "Carl has been a staunch advocate for the liberty movement in Nevada and throughout our nation. He brings great experience to our campaign in uniting and turning out libertarian-leaning Republicans, and ensuring they stay engaged in the political process and have their voices heard in the upcoming election."
Please don’t link to facts. Trumpbots do not like them. They will restort to personal attacks, crying to the admins and JimRob. And then they may link to articles edited by trumpbots to “prove” their false reality to themselves.
His position at this point is what the states might do with the land if they got into financial difficulties. Like Harry Reed selling or leasing land to China, Arizona selling Indian land to Australians, Hillary trying to sell Oregon land to Russians. That has to be addressed.
Bingo!! Direct Hit!!
After the butt kicking he gave to Cruz in the debate, I can see why. Maybe Cruz will out do Jeb - Aim High!!
You can let up now. That lie has been told well more than a thousand times.
AL: I'd like to talk about public land. Seventy percent of hunters in the West hunt on public lands managed by the federal government. Right now, there's a lot of discussion about the federal government transferring those lands to states and the divesting of that land. Is that something you would support as President?
DT: I don't like the idea because I want to keep the lands great, and you don't know what the state is going to do. I mean, are they going to sell if they get into a little bit of trouble? And I don't think it's something that should be sold. We have to be great stewards of this land. This is magnificent land. And we have to be great stewards of this land. And the hunters do such a great job--I mean, the hunters and the fishermen and all of the different people that use that land. So I've been hearing more and more about that. And it's just like the erosion of the Second Amendment. I mean, every day you hear Hillary Clinton wants to essentially wipe out the Second Amendment. We have to protect the Second Amendment, and we have to protect our lands.

I'm sure you'll equivocate Trump's word-salad of an answer one way or another, but Trump admitted he's not in favor of turning over federal land back to the state.
+100
Cruz lied that many times already?!
Bunce? lol....
Hawthorne Army Depot (HWAD) is a U.S. Army ammunition storage depot located near the town of Hawthorne in western Nevada in the United States. It is directly south of Walker Lake. The depot covers 147,000 acres (59,000 ha) or 226 sq. mi. and has 600,000 square feet (56,000 m2) storage space in 2,427 bunkers. HWAD is the "Worlds Largest Depot" and is divided into three ammunition storage and production areas, plus an industrial area housing command headquarters, facilities engineering shops, etc.
Nellis Air Force Base ("Nellis" colloq.) is a United States Air Force installation in southern Nevada with military schools and more squadrons than any other USAF base. Nellis hosts air combat exercises such as Exercise Red Flag and close air support exercises such as Green Flag-West flown in "Military Operations Area (MOA) airspace".[5] associated with the nearby Nevada Test and Training Range (NTTR). The base also has the Combined Air and Space Operations Center-Nellis.
Nellis AFB covers about 11,300 acres (4,600 ha) in the northeast corner of the Las Vegas Valley, an alluvial basin[3] in the Basin and Range Province. Since World War II, Nellis has had areas added, such as Area II in 1969, but still has about 7,000 acres (2,800 ha) of undeveloped space. One World War II runway has been removed.[3] The base has 3 areas (I, II, III). The United States Geological Survey names five different locations for the base: "Nellis Air Force Base", the airfield, the post office, a Community College of Southern Nevada campus, and the census-designated place (CDP).
Naval Air Station Fallon or NAS Fallon (IATA: NFL, ICAO: KNFL, FAA LID: NFL) is the United States Navy's premier air-to-air and air-to-ground training facility. It is located southeast of the city of Fallon in western Nevada in the United States. Since 1996, it has been home to the Naval Fighter Weapons School (TOPGUN), and the surrounding area contains 240,000 acres (97,000 ha) of bombing and electronic warfare ranges. It is also home to the Naval Strike and Air Warfare Center (NSAWC), which includes TOPGUN, the Carrier Airborne Early Warning Weapons School (TOPDOME) and the Navy Rotary Wing Weapons School. Navy SEAL Combat Search and Rescue (CSAR) training also takes place here.
The airfield is named Van Voorhis Field in honor of Lieutenant Bruce Van Voorhis (1908-1943) who was awarded a posthumous Medal of Honor.
The Nevada National Security Site (NNSS), previously the Nevada Test Site (NTS), is a United States Department of Energy reservation located in southeastern Nye County, Nevada, about 65 miles (105 km) northwest of the city of Las Vegas. Formerly known as the Nevada Proving Grounds,[2] the site was established on 11 January 1951 for the testing of nuclear devices, covering approximately 1,360 square miles (3,500 km2) of desert and mountainous terrain. Nuclear testing at the Nevada Test Site began with a 1-kiloton-of-TNT (4.2 TJ) bomb dropped on Frenchman Flat on 27 January 1951. Many of the iconic images of the nuclear era come from the NTS.
During the 1950s, the mushroom clouds from the 100 atmospheric tests could be seen for almost 100 mi (160 km). The city of Las Vegas experienced noticeable seismic effects, and the distant mushroom clouds, which could be seen from the downtown hotels, became tourist attractions. St. George, Utah, received the brunt of the fallout of above-ground nuclear testing in the Yucca Flats/Nevada Test Site. Winds routinely carried the fallout of these tests directly through St. George and southern Utah. Marked increases in cancers, such as leukemia, lymphoma, thyroid cancer, breast cancer, melanoma, bone cancer, brain tumors, and gastrointestinal tract cancers, were reported from the mid-1950s through 1980.[3][4] The vast majorityâ828 of the 928 total nuclear testsâwere underground.
The great state of Nevada sacrificed and continues to sacrifice its beauty to keep America safe.
Cruz wants the Nevada Test Site relocated to Texas, obviously.
Why are people with Ivy League degrees such morons and say the most ridiculous things?
The acreage you reference is a tiny drop in the bucket compared to the total amount of Nevada’s land the federal government has stolen from them...59,681,502 acres!!!
Ted Cruz wants to evict the Paiute?
One of the great mysteries of our time.
Non-Trump donors: Sheldon Adelson, etc. believes in borders & gates for his Macau Casino and borders for his Vegas casino but no Mexico border.
Well who the hell is gonna clean the place up and pick the vegetables?
Robots and a maximum of 1 million farm workers.
There aren’t 12 million illegals working in fields. I doubt if 1 million illegals are picking fruit.
