The question is whether Colin Powell said this or not, and whether or not it is a made up notion by Trump or whether he actually did hear it someplace.

Those of us who follow things remember. Colin Powell did say that. There was a whole lot of question back then about how such a big mistake could be made. Remember the live TV, when US troops went through Iraqi military installations, and all they found was vacant buildings and the outer shells or tanks and other abandoned equipment? That stuff could not have fooled anyone.

It was generally accepted that GWB went into Iraq because of daddy issues. George 1 didn't go after Sadam and some people questioned that. So GWB had something to prove or whatever.

That's my recollection of the events and narrative back then.
