Back in my early childhood this bitch would be calling the police on 75% of the fathers. Who my age didn’t get the belt?

I wasn’t surprised when I learned she has no children of her own. “Do as I say,” etc.

Some of us got the “switch” (a narrow freshly cut young tree branch). Watching Dad slowly remove all the stray buds and bark in preparation for use was part of the punishment. And only applied to the derriere, three or four swipes maximum.

Hell Dad would ask “belt or paddle” and we’d get the one we didn’t ask for. Just deciding was part of the punishment

“Who my age didnt get the belt?”........ Well, it wasn't the belt I got, it was a “razor strap”. I can plainly remember my very last “tune up” with the razor strap. I was 13 years old, (can't remember what I did to deserve such a lasting remembrance but not important now) and it was also the LAST use of the razor strap. During the final punishment, the razor strap broke and never to be used again. That's when things got worse because I laughed when the strap broke. Alas, it wasn't the end of future episodes. Amazing what memories are like as I smile thinking about that day.
