The Pope: Trump's Not a Christian
Rush Limbaugh ^ | 2/18/2016 | Rush Limbaugh

RUSH: Trump brought up a good point. He said, "When has the pope ever questioned the faith of another private citizen?" And, folks... By the way, folks, don't anybody... Don't anybody...

I'm just warning you here: Don't anybody ask about the president's religion! Don't even get close to going there. Don't do it. That is a forbidden area. You cannot even ask about it. The pope can go ahead and claim that Trump is not a Christian, but you can't go there when we talking about the president of the United States. Trump wants to know, has the pope ever questioned Obama's faith? Has the pope ever questioned any other private citizen's faith?

Has he questioned the faith of the Castro brothers? Has the pope questioned the faith of any communist leaders? He spends a lot of time in communist countries.

Has he ever said that Mao Tse-tung, that Fidel Castro, that Raul Castro, any other communist is not a Christian? Why Donald Trump? 'Cause Trump wants to build a wall? Have you seen the Vatican wall? I got a picture here I could show you on the Dittocam if I had the time and where it is. It's over 50-feet high. It's over 50-feet high. It's not even the kind of wall Trump's talking about building...

"The pope also broke with his predecessors by suggesting that Catholic lawmakers are free to vote for same-sex marriage and civil unions." Folks, I'm sure you in this audience understand. This is why I have been trying to make the case or state my belief that the fundamental matter of importance is defeating the Democrat Party.

This man is the head of government of a church and a state, the Vatican.

He is now trying to unlawfully influence U.S. and Territories Roman Catholics to vote against Donald Trump, it is clear.

This foreign head of government is exerting political AND religious influence to alter the outcome of an American election while within spitting distance of the USA across the river in Mexico.

He made some enemies here today, no matter which candidate he mentioned or didn’t mention by name.

More than one candidate is talking about building a wall...

That won't fly this time.

Continue your worship of God in your own fashion; it's still the United States of America for a while longer.

But twist the truth at your own risk. This man is not a Christian by his own definition of a person who builds walls instead of bridges. He judged himself by his own words today.

My own Spanish ancestors were responsible for an inquisition, and the first massacres of natives by Europeans in the New World-those were brutal times-people were not even close to what we consider civilized...

and some of the Spanish soldiers were recently converted moslems who became “christians” just so they didn’t have to leave Spain and lose their property...

so add their savage mindset...

Opportunists, too...

My ancestors were only too happy to get out of Spain and go to the New World in the late 1500’s-but they were Basques, the King and nobles weren’t too fond of them because they were rebelled at the drop of a hat.

It’s easy for the Pope to tell others to be charitable. The history of the Roman Catholic Church is one of great wealth that is only sometimes used to help the poor—probably about as often as Donald Trump contributes to charity. The Vatican is the ultimate gated community, and that’s unlikely to change. To take literally the biblical mandate to sell what one has and give it to the poor is tantamount to committing suicide, and I haven’t noticed the Pope or any Church officials doing that lately. Remember that is was partly because of excessive Church wealth and political influence that the Protestant Reformation came about, and papal power has been on a downhill course ever since. A contest between the Pope and secular authorities today would not end well for the Pope. Even if he used the threat of excommunication, that would not be taken seriously by most people. The days are long past when Emperor Henry IV stood in the snows of Canossa making his submission to Pope Gregory VII.

Donald Trump is probably not a Christian, and by the fruits of the current Pope, neither is the Pope.

I have only seen Trump pander to Christians and question other candidates faiths, which is OK, he’s trying to win votes, you know, like a politician needs to do. You gotta expect these kinds of things. It’s a non-issue.

The Pope needs to butt his nose out of US politics. He’s supposed to be the leader of the Catholic Church, not a political spokesperson for the UN.
