A funny thing happened on the way to the warmists’ nightmare: the Earth’s deserts have started to turn green.  The Supreme Court, in its infinite wisdom, may have ruled that carbon dioxide is a pollutant, but the Earth’s deserts metaphorically are filing a dissent.  On behalf of all carbon-based life forms  – which would be every living thing on the planet.

Enhanced levels of atmospheric carbon dioxide are a likely key driver of global dryland greening, according to a paper published today in the journal Scientific Reports.

The positive trend in vegetation greenness has been observed through satellite images, but the reasons for it had been unclear.

After analyzing 45 studies from eight countries, Lixin Wang, assistant professor of earth sciences in the School of Science at Indiana University-Purdue University Indianapolis, and a Ph.D. student in Wang’s group, Xuefei Lu, concluded the greening likely stems from the impact of rising levels of atmospheric carbon dioxide on plant water savings and consequent increases in available soil water.

“We know from satellite observations that vegetation is greener than it was in the past,” Wang said. “We now understand why that’s occurring, but we don’t necessarily know if that’s a good thing or not.”

Increased CO2 will cause more land to be arable and support more population which is anathema to the so-called greenies and might undo the beneficial slowing of population growth that the DDT ban accomplished. The greenies believe it is necessary to very quickly reduce the population ofEarth the planet to 500 million- radicals say 50 million. They say they believe man is a weed that must be largely eradicated. Actually they dream of a pristine Planet that is there for the enjoyment of themselves untrammeled by the presence of lesser beings.

Exactly. If this were a liberals response it’d have gloom and doom angle to it. If the claim was, “minor increases in CO2 will create a greener planet where we can harvest greater crop yields and maintain a bigger population, this improved plant life also provides a stabilization effect on CO2 levels” - the person would have a job for about 100 milliseconds - and knows it.

My take on this has always been

That to greenies or enviro wackos- that humans are a boil or pimple on Gaia’s behind. Pop or remove same - I have said the same to greenies and enviro wackos- they are aghast- they get livid when I point out that they are also pimples or boils on Gaia’s backside. They refuse to broach the subject ever again when I say that for the good of Gaia- they should remove themselves from the planet.

The Earth will never get to the Georgia Guidestones commandment of a population cap of 500 million if the earth warms and crops grow where it was too cold to grow them before. Ability to feed more people is counter to that commandment.
