Mitch McConnell's message to the White House after Antonin Scalia's death on Saturday seemed unequivocal: Donât even bother sending a Supreme Court nominee to Congress, we won't act on it.
But on Tuesday, some Republicans were signaling they're open to at least holding hearings, if not allowing a confirmation vote.

This is the hill they die on.
Whether they like it or not.
There is no purpose for an opposition party that does not oppose.

Do it, and die like the Whigs with a pillow over your face.
NOT a threat of course [cue Dick Nixon, "uhhh, well that would be wrong" but these days, you just never know what sort of surprise is lurking around the next corner, you know?

“Nominate Ted Cruz and we’ll put him right in! Then, with Cruz out of the way, we can *all* concentrate on attacking Trump.”
And then Cruz, after getting confirmed to the Supreme Court, can continue to run for president and win!
He can be the first of many things, including first to simultaneously serve as president AND Supreme Court justice.
I mean, while we are dreaming. If I sound sarcastic, don’t take it that way. I really wish it were possible, but Obama would never nominate anyone nearly as conservative as Cruz.

“That didnât take long.”
It would be funny if their caving in wasn’t so tragic. There are authoritarian candidates who, if elected will firmly intrench themselves as dictators. Who am I talking about, “Clinton, Sanders and Trump”.

He’d probably LOVE to lose every GOP seat up this year. Duh — when he actually CAN do very little, it makes the excuse making so much easier it’s almost realistic.

What they should do is review and vote down. We have Obama on record stating he voted against Alito because even though he acknowledged that he was eminently qualified for the position, he did not like his views and therefore voted against him.
Now Obama is saying he will elect an eminently qualified person so the Pubs should just say that just like Obama on Alito, we do not like his views. Done.

McConnell is a pussy Why denigrate cats? At least they have a purpose. No, McConnell is an utterly corrupt, cowardly, whining mama's boy, who doesn't even have the faintest claim to manhood. Probably doesn't even have a Y chromosome, he's such a nothing. Why his constituents voted this cowardly do-nothing back into office is a mystery. They must be brain dead libtards.

Seems like their strategy is very similar to many on FR - keep letting the Dems win with no real opposition until something breaks so bad it can’t be fixed - that’ll show us all.....
