Trey Gowdy, a South Carolina congressman who supports Marco Rubio, called for Ted Cruz to repudiate the most recent bit of "underhanded tactics" ahead of the South Carolina primary.
"In the last week, we have seen a systematic effort by Sen. Cruz and his allies to spread false information and outright lies in the hopes of winning votes by appealing to our lowest common denominator," Gowdy said. "Now, Its been reported that a fake Facebook page has been used to fool South Carolinians into thinking that I no longer support Marco Rubio and that I'm instead supporting Ted Cruz.
"Nothing could be further from the truth and I'm demanding that Sen. Cruz and his campaign repudiate these dishonest and underhanded tactics," Gowdy continued. "We can have a debate about the future of our party and our country. But we need not leave our integrity behind."
In the Facebook post at hand by a page titled "Trey Gowdy Prayers," it says that the most recent debate "revealed [Rubio's] total lack of integrity, intillect and foresight," before switching the faux endorsement to Cruz.

Cruz chose each and every one of his advisors empowered to conceive of and implement these tactics. It was his choice to seek Glenn Beck's support. Doesn't auger well for what he would do as chief executive of our country. All these 'gaffes' reveal a petty and bitter nature.

UPDATE (3:24 p.m.): Responding to Gowdy's comments, Cruz spokesman Rick Tyler criticized the Rubio surrogate for "throwing around wild accusations without any evidence whatsoever," pointing specifically to the Facebook page, which he said the Cruz campaign had nothing to do with
"This is called a smear campaign, and it's beneath the dignity of a sitting member of the House of Representatives," Tyler said before asking, "does the Marco Rubio campaign really believe it's going to smear it's way to victory?"
This is a smear by Rubio's team against Cruz about a facebook page that was created by no telling who. For all we know, somebody from the Trump campaign could have done it.
Absolutely. For years and years I’ve been voting for these PAC-funded career politician clowns with basically nothing to show for it.
It’s time for me to try something else. I already feel like a huge success because of the hundreds of millions of PAC dollars all of the candidates have wasted fighting Trump with nothing to show for it.
I’m sorry Trump doesn’t pass your purity test or whatever, but I hope in time your mind will change.
Is is possible Trump will be a disaster? Sure, anything is possible. But I don’t think it’s likely, and I find it LESS likely that one of these PAC funded snakes, who will for sure stab us in the back, for about the thousandth time in a row, CRUZ INCLUDED in some cases.
So, I’d rather go with the wild card with no political record this time around. Playing it safe with career politicians has gotten us nowhere and Trump is conservative enough for me on the issues I care about.

He is accusing. Can’t get any more plain than the above quote
A false flag? Do we know who put up that face book page? I am not too familiar with FB so don’t know how it operates.

Nowehre in that quote is an accusation that the Cruz campaign created the fake facebook posting. If the posting is false, it costs Cruz nothing to say so.

Cruz’s campaign didn’t set up the Robocalls Trump mentioned in the debate, either, or this Facebook stuff.
Some big money is trying to set Cruz up for a big fall.

Anybody with a facebook account can create a page about anything. There is nothing there linking it to the Cruz campaign. Rubio’s, Trump’s or Carson’s team or any body could have put that up there.
