Why are Syrian Kurds pivoting toward Moscow?
By Morgan L. Kaplan February 12
On Wednesday, an affiliate of the largest and most powerful Kurdish party in Syria, the Democratic Union Party (PYD), opened its first official mission abroad â in Moscow. Given the amount of military and political support the PYD has received from the United States, this decision is likely to be received with some shock and confusion in the West. But a closer examination of the PYDâs historical experience and core interests suggests that the politics behind a potential realignment with Moscow makes strategic sense.
...snip...
As an important NATO ally, Turkeyâs increasingly âus or themâ approach to undermine U.S.-PYD relations may be putting heavy stress on the American-Kurdish alignment of interest. At the same time, Ankara is also trying to preempt any strategic alignment between the United States and Russia on a joint front against the Islamic State and an endgame in Syria. The downing of a Russian jet over Turkish airspace on Nov. 24 forced NATO allies to take sides.

By the way, non of this calculation will change if any of the GOPe candidates win. Only Trump would be able to win over the Kurds based on his statements on Syria and wanting to work with Russia against ISIS. Every other Republican and Hillary would screw the Kurds.
Is the headline a trick question?
were you on vacation? - we missed your updates.
No Palestinian state until there is a independent Kurdist state in Iraq.
Because the United States is untrustworthy and cowardly.
At least with Moscow, you know you will have someone that will actually do what is in their own best interests, and likewise fight to achieve it.
President Trump is the only candidate that will make peanut butter sandwiches taste better too.
Too funny watching Trump idol worshipping.
Cannot trust the USA
Because they know an enemy agent is President of the USA?
Almost as much fun as watching whiny neocons getting their butt kicked...
Because too many times we gave them the poopy end of the stick?
IOW, we have given them ample reasons not to trust US.
I’m not Jewish, but have nothing but admiration and respect for the Jewish people. I’m thankful to not support an America blaming Code Pink proxy, like yourself appearently. Some ass-kicking huh?
No one will ever trust the USA again - nor should they. At least Russia can be counted on to act in its own national interest.
Because ISIS wants to kill them, and ISIS is tacitly supported by Saudi Arabia and Turkey
Because they know Saudi Arabia/Turkey are waging war on Assad to install a favorable puppet, sunni leadership which will do Turkey's bidding.
Because the USA/Obama cut and ran from Iraq, leaving a huge vacuum, and the Kurds don't want to be dominated by others as they were under Saddam Hussein. Russia and Assad are their best choice.
You know Russia will do soething, and that it will actually finsih what it starts.
With Oboma? The ONLY thing you know is that "The more radical the Muslim, the more Obama will support the Muslim against his enemies, and the more permanent that support will be (at least until a more radical Muslim needs help). The closer one gets to Israel and the UK and America, the less likely Oboma will be to support you, and the more flimsy that support will be."
Neither is John McCain or Lindsey Graham....so whats your point clown?
Oh that's right, you don't have one...
It’s good to be missed.
Call me a neocon, I call you a jew hater. If you don't like it, try some other tact....oh that's right, you don't have one.

Under Obama people have died eating contaminated peanut butter sandwiches. So yes.
Nobody here was talking about Trump until you slithered in.
So why don’t you slither back out and take your racist card with you?
