South Carolina television stations pull [Cruz] anti-Rubio ad amid legal concerns
CNN ^

Posted on 02/15/2016 7:42:36 PM PST by springwater13

Some South Carolina television stations are pulling a negative television advertisement from a group supporting Ted Cruz because of the claims it makes against Marco Rubio.

A spot from Stand for Truth Inc., a shadowy super PAC formed just a few months ago, had spent $125,000 to air the spot titled "Sanctuary" on Iowa television and on digital platforms, according to advertising tracker CMAG/Kantar Media. The group has not shared much information about its advertising plans, and is using a high number of companies to receive and direct donations. The group had begun to air the ads in South Carolina before the legal team for one media company, Media General, determined it had to be pulled.

The decision by television stations was first reported by The New York Times.

It is not uncommon for campaigns to try and litigate the fairness of attack advertisements with television stations, though the advertiser usually does not order a spot to be removed from the airwaves. And there is no evidence that other South Carolina television representatives find the ad similarly objectionable.

Randy Ingram, the general manager for WBTW, the CBS affiliate in Myrtle Beach, said the company received a cease-and-desist order and that Media General, which also operates a CBS and NBC affiliate in the Upstate and Charleston areas, decided to honor it.

"I'm not sure why legal decides we run something different," Ingram said, declining to say who specifically had requested the ad be pulled. He said Stand for Truth replaced "Sanctuary" with a different spot in its advertising rotation.

“It’s not Cruz. It’s a PAC.

Don’t blame Cruz for something a group of apparent supporters does.

Sleazy springwater13 at it again!”

“Sleazy” is a relative term. “It’s not Cruz. It’s a PAC.” is a lame excuse. However, in that vein, here is sleaze, unethical behavior and absolute bottom scraping tactics from Cruz’s own mouth, setting himself up as the only “savior” of Christianity in America.

It’s against the law

Well, let's see. PAC ads are beautifully timed, organized and have the same talking-points as the candidate and they are run by friends of the candidate. All the politicians have big donor PACs (sans Trump)

Trump could get all the PAC money he wants - you better believe it - but has enough control not to have any. So, the key word is actually 'coordinate' - and they do it anyway with leaked private campaign memos and generally act as rapid-response teams to negative ads posted against their candidate.

But it's worse than that. PACs can avoid the coordination ban by relying on a 2006 Federal Election Commission regulation that declared that content posted online for free, such as blogs, is off limits from regulation. So, they all post what they want and coordinate with the campaign through blogs on the net. Better than any phone call isn't it. So, the law is a joke.

They do coordinate, mainly through blogs on the net, which are legal because blogs are ‘free’ postings.

I guess I wasn’t as clear as I thought I was when I wrote my post.

For sure Cruz supporters are attacking Trump, and Trump supporters are attacking Cruz. I understand that and I have no issue with that.

The issue is that there is a mass gang-up on one of the candidates or the other. The posts use the same words or at least approach the situation from the same angle, but they come from posters who use different names, giving the impression of a mass spontaneous rise in awareness. Today’s mass gang-up uses the word “sleaze”.

In this election the GOPe is focusing much of its efforts on social media, trying to create an illusion of broad-based support.

When there is a sudden attack on one or the other of the non-GOPe candidates — Trump or Cruz — seemingly from a multitude of directions, and the attack is personal, mocking, and hateful, then it is clear to me that the attack is coming from the GOPe as a way to knock down alternatives to Bush, Rubio and Kasich.

Many of those people who post these attacks claim that they support the other candidate (today it is an attack on Cruz). These claims are not true, in my opinion, and the attacks are a “false flag” operation instead.

The loans were documented

So, you want to help hide his sleaze. The FEC filing is critical and as a lawyer Cruz knew that. Cruz did not file FEC documents declaring his loans when he ran for the Senate. The information was only 'slipped into' filings with Senate documents at a later time. He was caught with his run for president.

Cruz ran for the Senate as a Teap Party darling claiming he and Heidi put up all their assets. So, you can see why his misled the flock when, in fact, he was funded by a no-repayment-timeline margin loan from Goldman Sachs. Lying to the flock just comes natural to him.

In his own words the lie:

Sweetheart, I would like us to liquidate our entire net worth, liquid net worth, and put it into the campaign,... he says he told his wife, Heidi, who readily agreed.

Just like TPA/Corker/500% increase in H-1B visas, Cruz serpentines and corkscrews his donor votes and then cloaks the truth with the flock.

Campaigns don’t like certain words, especially when they are true. So, they put out a fake meme saying only paid posters and such are to use certain words. Reverse psychology because they don’t want the word used. To me, if sleaze fits, it fits.

I guess I could see into the future and created an account just to attack CRuz, given that I joined in 2006.

A lot of Trump supporters don’t understand the difference between a PAC and a candidate’s campaign. However, that doesn’t seems to prevent them from repeating baseless accusations ad nauseum.

Campaigns have a hard time pretending they are not coordination.

Most people do not realize that there is not much difference anymore between the campaign and Pac operations according to FEC officials.

About the photo of Trump with the Clintons, it’s an example of how Mr.Trump can interact with everyone, which is an attribute a President must possess.

This isn’t the first time that false flag posters have been on Free Republic. I’m sure it was happening in 2006 as well.

The whole point is that you spammers are using the meme under lots of different names to create the illusion that there is a groundswell of belief in what you are saying, and that everyone is so angry that they are willing to resort to Alinskyite ridicule of Cruz, magically using the same word.

Did the American Sniper suffer from OCD because he had to fight multiple opponents?

The envelope in which the voter shaming score card saying that the recipient had a VOTER VIOLATION in bright red, said it was from Cruz. Would a PAC do that??? If one did, then Cruz could have said a PAC sent it but he did not. Many FReepers considered this mailing creepy, fascistic, and other nasty terms.
