Some South Carolina television stations are pulling a negative television advertisement from a group supporting Ted Cruz because of the claims it makes against Marco Rubio.
A spot from Stand for Truth Inc., a shadowy super PAC formed just a few months ago, had spent $125,000 to air the spot titled "Sanctuary" on Iowa television and on digital platforms, according to advertising tracker CMAG/Kantar Media. The group has not shared much information about its advertising plans, and is using a high number of companies to receive and direct donations. The group had begun to air the ads in South Carolina before the legal team for one media company, Media General, determined it had to be pulled.
The decision by television stations was first reported by The New York Times.
It is not uncommon for campaigns to try and litigate the fairness of attack advertisements with television stations, though the advertiser usually does not order a spot to be removed from the airwaves. And there is no evidence that other South Carolina television representatives find the ad similarly objectionable.
Randy Ingram, the general manager for WBTW, the CBS affiliate in Myrtle Beach, said the company received a cease-and-desist order and that Media General, which also operates a CBS and NBC affiliate in the Upstate and Charleston areas, decided to honor it.
"I'm not sure why legal decides we run something different," Ingram said, declining to say who specifically had requested the ad be pulled. He said Stand for Truth replaced "Sanctuary" with a different spot in its advertising rotation.

It is not the Gang of Trump. It is the GOPe and Rove’s team who are attacking Cruz in a coordinated fashion (see the way that they all are using the word “sleaze” today, using the JournoList strategy). If they knock off the non-GOPe Republicans then one of their own — Bush, Rubio or Kasich — will win the nomination.
If Cruz is out of the picture, these same posters will turn their venom on Trump in a heartbeat.
Today’s word is “sleazy”, not “creepy”. Didn’t you get the GOPe memo?
Good use of the word “sleaze”. A little more subtle than your GOPe colleagues. I hope you get a parking space in front of the door for your efforts.
CReepy is my own word. The GOPe memos only go out to CRuz supporters, evidently.
Not the Trump campaign...it is the GOPe that is trying to tear them all down. If they discredit Cruz they will turn their attention to Trump in a heartbeat. Just watch.
Lot of heart in that post
Especially for a librarian
God bless you
I think you GOPe agents are supposed to stick to the word “sleazy” and not doctor it up. Using words like “ultra-sleazy” may confuse the rest of us.
Please stick to the memo.
The thing is, they are not supporting Trump. They are only knocking down Cruz with choreographed ridicule. Today’s attack is to call him “sleazy”. I don’t know what tomorrow’s word is going to be.
Once they knock Cruz out of the picture, the only choice is Trump or the GOPe, and then they can focus their attention on Trump.
I believe that their endgame is to make the rest of us hostile to non-GOPe candidates so that Bush, Rubio or Kasich will win.
Look at how non-establishment Republican candidates have been attacked in the past. Suddenly their reputation is torn to shreds by attacks from seemingly hundreds of locations, and the rest of us stupidly go looking for another candidate to support.
It has worked before, and they are trying the same strategy now.
Today’s word is “sleaze”, not “sleazaball”. I’m going to have to ask you to read the GOPe memos more carefully.
Trump mentioned at Saturday’s debate, calls were allegedly going out that ‘Trump is not running in So Carolina’.

In light of the announcement today of a pro-Cruz group’s anti-Rubio tv ad being pulled for legal reasons, I’d like to know more about the negative robo-calls.
I would be alarmed of any candidate that would lead voters in two consecutive states to believe that two different opponents are ‘not running.’ Carson was rightfully owed an apology and I would also expect, if Cruz is not directly responsible for the misleading calls, or for the rumor that Trump also had dropped out of the race, that a man of honor would denounce and publically distance himself from those producing such calls/ads/rumors.
Cruz doesn’t need Trum tp attack him. Cruz is doing a great job of sinking himself.
Ehhhh, no we haven't
Cruz is relentless sleeze. He is absolutely finished. He is repulsive. I triedâ I really tried but this jerk has no boundaries. Even his closest supporters here have stopped.
********************************************
Candidates are not allowed to communicate with their PACs, so why do so many like you blame Cruz? He doesn’t control the PACs.
The campaign and the PAC... May not as a matter of law coordinate.
If they were Trump supporters would be screaming about the illegality of the coordination from the roof tops.
Cruz blamed Rubio for the San Bernadino attacks.
*****************************************************
When did that happen? Care to provide a link?
Cruz fans are sinking to suggesting that Cruz has no control over his PACs. Just freakinâ unbelievable.
*************************************
It’s against the law for a candidate to communicate with any of his PACs, much less “control” them.
Candidates are barred from coordinating with super PACs.
You forgot the fraudulent Senate campaign filing and hiding the loans ...
********************************
The loans were documented and publically disclosed when he filed to run for the Senate. A FNC document was missed when he filed to run for president, but the info was already publically available. ...Stop furthering the lies.
re: Debate, disagreement, free speech and a free press are vital to a Constitutional republic.
So true. Big problem is, I have not heard any Debate for well over a month. I all I have heard is snark, personal attacks and even insults to each others families.
All I see when these “men” supposedly running for the highest office in the land acting like school boys on the playground.
No thanks.
And perhaps I am not understanding your comment that Trump supporters are not attacking Cruz. I am almost certain I read on this site where people supporting Trump attacked Cruz.
At least they said they were supporting Trump.
