Trumpism and Reaganism
Breitbart ^ | February 15,2016 | by ROGER STONE AND PAUL NAG

Posted on 02/15/2016 6:04:17 PM PST by Hojczyk

As Yogi Berra said, "It is deja all over again."

The 2016 campaign is becoming more and more reminiscent of the 1980 campaign when the establishment threw everything it had at Ronald Reagan. Reagan was characterized as a crackpot, b-grade movie actor whose foreign policy would cause World War III; his economic policies were "madness" and the tax cut proposal was "voodoo economics."

Trump is in the same situation as Reagan was in 1976 and throughout the 1980 campaign until the convention in Detroit. And then, inexplicably to some conservatives, Reagan decided to put George H. W. Bush on the ticket as his vice president instead of Kemp.

Thus the political elites, inclusive of the impudent snobs, were able to salvage what would have been a near catastrophic situation -- not having access and leverage on the presidency and the business of Washington.

Needless to say, politics is a very big business and, as the New York Times recently reported, Donald Trump is a nightmare for the political consulting business. The digital media buy alone for 2016 is estimated to be nearly $1 billion. Jeb Bush has paid one firm over $40 million for advertising through December. Additionally, $3 billion is spent annually to lobby Capitol Hill and the White House.

Donald Trump, like Ronald Reagan, has interjected a positive dynamic into the U.S. political lexicon -- an anti-political correctness that resonates with voters. It is healthy for our country and severely needed within the Republican Party.

Americans are embracing Trump's vison of making America great again, just as they embraced Reagan's vision of America as that shinning city on the hill. Trump is very much a disciple of Ronald Reagan, contrary to what the impudent snobs say.

Trump was a big supporter of George Bush #41.

Jo, it may be too late, but I recommend that you brush up on your critical thinking skills.

Trump has the potential to be better then Reagan. If he builds the wall and deports all illegals, he would be the president that saved America and the greatest ever. Worthy of his own Mt. Rushmore monument.

I can imagine him putting up his own Mt Rushmore-type monument even if he doesn't build the wall or deport... or even win the election. It'll be HUUUGE.

And he'll get cruz to pay for it.

To tell the truth, I am laughing at all this “Who’s the most Reaganequse” guy running.

This is not the 1980’s.

New POTUS faces totally different set of challenges.

I know that people use it as a compliment or to degrade (if not like Reagan)

But this kind of discussion isn’t influencing my choice at all. And its getting rather old.

Why what ever do you mean? I post a future hypothetical and you respond like I said it already happened. Then you follow that up with a recommendation that brush-up on critical thinking skills. I think maybe be you should try to comprehend what you are reading before making a fool out of yourself.

Reagan had a proven conservative record. It started with fighting communists while in Hollywood; and was solidified and grew while governor.
Trump has; nothing.

As far as I’m concerned Cruz is the closest thing we have to Reagan these days that is running for President.

Reagan was right in 1980. Any serious comparison to Trump proves that someone else was right in those days:

DEVO

Roger Stone is a GOPe operative who started Republicans for Choice with his then wife Ann Stone.

Republicans for Choice were set up expressly to get rid of the pro-life plank in the Republican platform. They did not succeed.

So, not only is Trump a low-life, he hires people who have been known in the past to have actively worked against our core values.

The Donald is no Ronald Reagan.

According to Trump he is. According to Trump, RR was a life long democrat, who became somewhat conservative, but not too much. He proclaimed this to Hannity a couple weeks ago...Sean didn’t challenge him on that, go figure.

Trump has specialized in building walls for 40 years, mock it all you want, but this wall is going to be (physically) the easiest wall he has ever erected.

Everyone says Trump has no record, well, building walls is one of the things he has a long and consistent record of.

Oh, and BTW, no need to wait 4 years, 2 years from now there will be a substantial wall.

You are right, Trump has not demonstrated the same character as Reagan.
