Krauthammer: CBS Republican Debate Was "Thermonuclear War," "We Went From WWE To The UFC"
RCP ^

Posted on 02/14/2016 5:54:28 AM PST by RoosterRedux

Charles Krauthammer analyzes the Saturday night Republican presidential debate moderated by CBS News. Krauthammer said if the previous debates had been World War I or II, then this debate was a thermonuclear war. The syndicated columnist said Trump debated like "a man who was not sitting on the lead" because the candidate engaged with every top candidate.

CHARLES KRAUTHAMMER: If the previous Republican debates have been World War I or II this is is thermonuclear. I have is not seen as many personal attacks or high temperature attacks as we saw in this debate. I am not sure that you can judge the debate on who won or lost on the actual sound bites of who won this exchange or, that that, it was the tone. I think that if you counted up the number of times that the word 'lie' and 'liar' was employed, it would exceed the number of times it has been used in all previous debates.

In the end, I thought that Trump was a man who was not sitting on the lead, that's for sure. He was engaged personally with everybody at a very bitter level... with Bush, he was throwing around insults, including the family, and getting incoming as well from all sides. So he didn't sit on the lead. I think he took a risk in being as open and often contemptuous as he was, but I don't think it's going to shake his support. The question is, will it limit his support?

When you analyze this joke of a debate one can see that most of the candidates were talking points and would do nothing to save America except Trump.

Don't the communists see that continuing they will lost their freedom? How dumb the communists left Democrats are!

Trump is the only chance we have. Trump for President.

Mr. Krauthammer is a shallow, pretentious phoney.
It only took a few times of hearing him intone the obvious for me to tune him out.

‘The RNC yesterday:

Sent out fake dishonest fundraising letters using Trumps name;

Refused to allow average citizens access to the debate audience, giving the seats instead to donors of chosen candidates and party hacks.’

So I’m supposed to be dismayed by Trumps anger and dismissal of them??

The GOP is a filthy dirty party. The Bushes have been at the top of it for decades.

I hope Trump continues to take a wrecking ball to the entire party of pigs.

And then the same to the Democrats in the general.’
Right on!!
TWB

Yes, I think the intensity of the personal attacks will continue until the work up to Super Tuesday.

When that day arrives, what can the GOPe do? Their can no longer focus their money because there are so many State markets to go after.

This is where Trump's personal connection with the voters at rallies is paying off big time.

Ha! I'm laughing thinking about the worried looks on the faces of Goldman Sachs people like Warren Buffet!

And Krauthammer?   What a sorry columnist.   As if Trump is getting angry and attacking for no good reason.

Well, good doctor, if someone was spending tens of millions of dollars to destroy your reputation, would you be silent about it?

Not Trump, he's going to hit them hard, and South Carolina voters probably loved it!  That's why we like the guy -- He fights!  ... and he wins.

GO Trump!

Krauthammer ? Who cares.

I can’t wait to hear from Steve Hayes !
I bet his panties are in such a twist they’ll have to be surgically removed.

As someone about Trump’s age, I find it easy to believe his explanation as to why he’s running.

I’ve agonized over the America we are leaving for my own children and grandchildren to live in and raise their families in. Most Freepers here probably feel the same way.

America hardly resembles the one I grew up in. It’s but a shadow of its former self, with freedoms, successes, with respect from our friends, and fear of us by our enemies, all but non-existent.

Trump said he was running so that his family wouldn’t look at him, knowing he could have fixed it, but didn’t.

His own story of building the Trump Organization shows that he knows how to build great empires. Now he wants to make all of America great again.

I think we are but the lucky side beneficiaries.

Krauthammer is looking very ill and haggard these days. Don’t know if he will be on Fox much longer, maybe have to confine his thoughts to print..

This is why no serious candidate should be involved in these pop-culture shows. They are not about the issues and this country; they are about ratings.

“Where’s Krauthammer’s condemnation of the GOPe filling the auditorium with plants primed to boo Trump and Cruz every time they tried to answer a question and to cheer Rubio and Jeb! every time they grunted or squeaked a syllable?

Nowhere? I guess that tells us all we need to know about Kraut’s “commentary”.”

I agree. Anyone with even the teeniest spark of objectivity left could easy see (or, rather, hear) that last night’s audience was at complete odds with every poll (on-line or elsewhere) that gauge’s support for the candidates. There can’t be any other explanation for that other than that the audience was stacked with GOP-e pukes who want to either lose the election, destroy the country, or both.

Surrounded by them and a bunch of lying, desperate opponents ON the stage, I’m surprised Trump was as tolerant as he was. Frankly, I would have walked off the stage.

These “debates” are absolutely unnecessary. They are only good for the media and pundits. These republican debates also only serve to tear the right down and to give the left more talking points.
Stop playing into the lefts hands and tearing eachother down people!

I am a bit older than Trump at 93 but hate what has happened to my country I love and gave 5+ years of my life fighting for in WW2——America gave the world some 70 years of relative peace along with a strong economy where folks could work and climb the ladder of the American Dream if they wished-—we gave th world, especially our enemies of WW2, a hand up and helped rebuild their countries as well-—we also knew that men were men and women were wemon along with the joy of knowing the difference-—many of my countrymen believd this country was founded on Christian Principles and prayed for it every week-—now, look at what we have-—no longer can our children salute the flag (for which many died protecting) or say a prayer to their Creator in a schoolroom ——our people are divided by a political class that hates this country and has changed who we are, what we are told to believe, lies about the glory and decency that was America, prays for our destruction-—We, the People, have let this happen by not picking leaders that were honest, decent, God fearing and loving the America so many fought and some died for over more than 200 years—Now, we have ONE (1) chance to make a change—I beg you do not ‘screw it up”, since I have 40 grand and great grandchildren who must live with what you do-—cheers

I’m nearly speechless. What you wrote needs to be repeated — over and over again.

Thank you for those words. Thank you for your service. Thank you for your faith.

What bothers me is how much fodder this will provide for the Dems in the General Election. Video and audio clips from the debate will be gold for them.

No more GOP debates. Enough already.
