Does Ted Cruz Think He’s the Messiah?
The Daily Beast ^ | 2/14/2016 | JAY MICHAELSON

Posted on 02/14/2016 12:20:17 AM PST by BlackFemaleArmyColonel

Rafael Cruz, father of Ted Cruz, is a preacher of the far-right doctrine of dominionism, which holds that Christians should take over the government and save it from the wicked.

When Ted Cruz announced his candidacy for president, many assumed he would quietly distance himself from his father, Rafael Cruz, since the elder Cruz has long been extreme in his religious views, and outspoken in proclaiming them.

But the opposite has been the case. Rafael Cruz has been the senator's primary surrogate on the campaign trail, particularly with the evangelical voters who are now Ted Cruz's base. The two have frequently spoken together, prayed together, campaigned together--even shot highly awkward "slice of life" videos together.

The reason Ted Cruz might be reluctant to embrace his father so publicly is that Rafael Cruz subscribes to what is known as dominionism, which holds that Christianity should exercise "dominion" over all of society, not just the traditional boundaries of religion.

Historically, dominionism began as an offshoot of Christian Reconstructionism, the sect founded in the 1960s by defender-of-slavery R.J. Rushdoony that seeks to replace secular law with Biblical law, stonings and all. More moderate versions of Reconstructionism began to take hold in the New Christian Right, which began in the 1970s as an effort to re-engage evangelicals in politics and fight back against the sexual revolution and the civil rights movement. Dominionism was one such version.

The etymological and Scriptural roots of dominionism are God's command that Adam and Eve should "have dominion over all the earth" and Isaiah 2:2, which says, "Now it shall come to pass in the latter days that the Lord's house shall be established on the top of the mountains."

I imagine you forgot to post that web sites second story for some reason ...

Donald Trump: Bush Lied, People Died... The Donald strayed deep into conspiracy-ville during the latest GOP debate, saying George W. Bush deliberately misled us about Iraq’s WMDs. Then he kinda blamed Bush for 9/11.

Next...

..."Look at that. LOOK AT IT. If it weren't for the suit, he'd practically be camouflaged. It's almost poetic. The one thing Trump needed to do was be less visible, and he was so close to facing into the background."... Donald Trump Was Particularly Orange Tonight

And what's wrong with John Kasich's eyes - his eyeballs flicked back and forth so fast I was grateful when the camera switched to a side shot. Is that normal for him, for anyone?

And Jeb Bush! Those glasses! Is he trying to look like Jed Clammpet's granny - is he morphing into Barbara?

And Ted Cruz, is he tall enough to be elected president!? Why should brains rate so high?

Rubio, Rubio, Rubio - shouldn't we worry more about a Dorian Gray painting in his attic and less about his fishing boat?

Dr. Ben Carson got to his podium without any difficulty or help from Donald Trump this time.
It looks like the good doctor is returning that favor.

And finally, the two socialists who long for a view of the USSR - Hillary! and Bern.

.

No one can deny that the GOP field certainly has a diversity of color.

Obama might be the antiChrist.

I heard about trump playing politics with 9/11.

Lost friends to lung cancer - firemen.

well, one gone, one not doing so well.

Bush was in office 8 months. The Cole, The Kobe Towers, the ‘93 attacks, they MIGHT have been a warning to billie, but he was busy...

he did lie and people did die and his brother wants us all to pretend like it didn’t happen and many of the same foreign policy geniuses giving Jeb Bush all of his stellar foreign policy advice were the people advising his brother back then. And, as a result of their policy advice, we have President Barack Obama instead of senator Barack Obama now.

Personally, and I didn’t always think this, I have to agree...the Iraq was a big incredibly expensive mistake..in lives and the natural treasury. Why did we do it....was it because Saddam was after ‘41? I’ve wondered if it was a war of vengence of Bush against Saddam. Whatever the reason it didn’t turn out the way we thought.

And, in so doing we did Iran a big favor. Now look what we’ve got.

If one wants to support people like Trump who supported slaughtering innocent babies, black babies aborted 3 times more than whites, support him. I’m sure not.

Why’d we do it? Watch the debate, that was answered.

And it wasn’t Bush who withdrew troops out of Iraq.

Good stuff, CW. Did you notice in Cruz’ interview on Fox, after the debate, some of the makeup had rubbed off the tip of his nose, which made the tip quite a bit whiter than the rest.

My wife pointed it out to me, and we both cracked up—It looked just like a little penis.

I swear I don’t know how the interviewer kept a straight face.

"Does BlackFemaleArmyCaptain think she’s helping Don Trump with these threads?"

More likely she thinks she's one of The Blues Brothers - on a mission from God.

Witness for example this view into the psyche of BFAC -

I am very important....to GOD. See, I am a Minister of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I listen to Jesus and I let Him direct my path. I listen to the Lord when He tells me to convey a message to someone...including Trump.

Trump listens to me. I won't tell you how I know that.

How much moral authority is someone trying to claim by calling themselves "black female army captain".

"You can't disagree with me! I'm black! I'm female! I'm a veteran! I'm an officer!"

Identity politics is a progressive game.

Go to DU where you belong.

I would hope Cruz and all of the believing candidates asked God what He wanted them to do about running for president. To leave God out of decisions, especially of such great importance, doesn’t make sense.
