Trump, Carson, Fiorina lead GOP pack in Iowa
The Hill ^ | 9/22/2015 | Jesse Byrnes

Real estate tycoon Donald Trump, with 24 percent, retired neurosurgeon Ben Carson, with 17 percent, and former Hewlett-Packard CEO Carly Fiorina, with 13 percent, take the top spots in Public Policy Polling's newest survey of GOP primary voters in the Hawkeye State. The rest of the candidates running for the Republican presidential nomination register in single digits, including Sens. Ted Cruz (Texas) and Marco Rubio (Fla.), at 8 percent each, and former Govs. Jeb Bush (Fla.) and Mike Huckabee (Ark.), at 6 percent apiece. Wisconsin Gov. Scott Walker, who dropped out of the GOP race Monday after falling dramatically in polls, takes 5 percent. Kentucky Sen. Rand Paul and Louisiana Gov. Bobby Jindal are at 4 percent. Trump and Carson have led in the state by wide margins since shortly after the first GOP debate last month, and Tuesday's poll gives Fiorina a bounce to fourth overall in the RealClearPolitics average of polling, placing her just behind Cruz in Iowa. The polling occurred on the heels of the second GOP debate last week, during which Fiorina addressed Trump's remark about her face. Nearly 6 in 10 GOP voters in Iowa, 59 percent, found Trump's comment inappropriate, according to PPP. A majority of Iowa Republicans similarly found Trump's remark about Bush's wife during the debate inappropriate.

I’m tired of hearing about Iowa. Lord protect us for eternal primaries and multi-year campaigns. Politics is becoming a parasite on the culture.

I think he said that Bush only wants to allow illegal aliens in the country from Mexico because his wife was Mexican. It was something to that effect. To my knowledge, Mrs. Bush never said a word about Trump. All families should be left out of the campaigning.

To me, The Mrs. Bush thing is not as bad as the Megyn Kelly (bimbo) or Carly (that face) thing.

It’s depressing we play the first two games of the political season in blue territory.

Me too. I can’t wait until it’s here and gone.

The caucus is in January, isn’t it?

Yes most of Trump’s stuff is fine but he really is flirting with fire on female comments. There is so much to go after with Carly on other issues. I wish he would lay off also.

Read the last part of the article.

Trump HAS insulted women. He no longer does it because of concerns from supporters about his comments.

Women are going to have to get used to competition. You can’t have it both ways.

If you do not want to be attacked back, do not attack.

Simple concept.

Trump said nothing wrong. And if Jeb wants his wife not brought up, then he shouldn't have brought her up in his campaign book...

Don’t agree. Campaigning doesn’t mean you can’t have some class.

Carson is more intelligent than I first thought, based on his comment about a sharia style Muslim president. And not afraid to say politically incorrect, but truthful items.

Statement about FioRINO...”who wants to see that face in White House”...

Which was NOT an insult to women, just FioRINO.
Trump insulted Rick Perry also. Does that mean an attack on ALL men?

So ridiculous!

I agree with that, but I think Trump has really done a lot better with that without losing himself.

I do not see a lot of class in women candidates from either party.

They play the girl thing. This war on women thing is a bad way to go, it didn’t work in 2014 and it will not work now.

Carly should have acted with Reaganesque humour as a response. Megyn should have sourced herself better when making that attack debate night. She is quite like Trump really. Amazing

The bit about her being a bimbo was not something Trump said himself. I do agree he should not have retweeted it.

I guess they all make mistakes.

I'm sure he was very attentive to your statement.

Trumped backed off.

Yes, surely. Because of your objections.

Because you are really important.

I am very important....to GOD. See, I am a Minister of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I listen to Jesus and I let Him direct my path. I listen to the Lord when He tells me to convey a message to someone...including Trump.

Trump listens to me. I won’t tell you how I know that.

That's awesome.

See, I am a Minister of the Gospel of Jesus Christ. I listen to Jesus and I let Him direct my path.

I'm blessed to know it.

I listen to the Lord when He tells me to convey a message to someone...including Trump.

Yes, I'm sure Twitter is fun too.

Trump listens to me. I won’t tell you how I know that.

Probably best on a public forum. I'd rather you not be institutionalized just yet.

OK...first problem. If you’re going to throw out an accusation, make sure you know what it is/was. Saying, “I think...”, or, “It was something to that effect”.

To my knowledge, Mrs. Bush never said a word about Trump. All families should be left out of the campaigning.

Agree, to some degree. Depends on how much the family member inserts themselves into the dialogue. Admittedly, Mrs. Bush did not.

Lastly, what Trump said (through Twitter) was, “Jeb Bush has to like the Mexican illegals because of his wife”....now, let that statement settle in. So what exactly did he say about Jeb’s wife, and why does he have to apologize for it? His wife is Mexican...is she not? Could it not be inferred that Jeb may take the position he does on Mexican immigrants because of his wife’s nationality? Is that offensive? I don’t dispute that family members should be off the table, however, he did not say anything offensive and actually, what he said may actually be true.
