Part of the senate will be running for re-election. They will probably want to push this off.
There is no precedent for confirming a Supreme Court Justice during a President’s lame duck year. George Washington nominated a few who got confirmed in his last year in office, as did Andrew Jackson (the last time it happened). He had 2 justices confirmed in the Spring of 1836 (1 was Roger B. Taney) and 1 confirmed 2 months after he left office, but since his successor Martin Van Buren was also a Democrat, I’m guessing Van Buren had no objection.
Looks like Mitch McConnell finally grew a pair. Fox News says McConnell says the vacancy should not be filled until the next presidency.
FNC reading McConnell statement saying Scalia replacement should not be filled until new president is elected. Of course, putting out a statement and what he actually does are two very different things.

The gobbler, along with Ryan will probably hold a press conference stating that they will not oppose any of the imposers nominations...we’re screwed!.

I, too, was in favor of Robert’s appointment at the time. He didn’t turn out to be the consummate conservative most people thought he was. Cruz is no more responsible for Roberts confirmation than I am. It is as simple as that.
