(Via CBS) The six remaining major GOP presidential candidates have all qualified for CBS News’ Republican debate in South Carolina on Saturday night, the network announced Friday.
Donald Trump, Ted Cruz, Marco Rubio, Jeb Bush, Ben Carson and John Kasich have been invited to participate in the debate at the Peace Center in Greenville.
Former Virginia Gov. Jim Gilmore, who had only previously participated in undercard debates, did not qualify for the main stage, and New Jersey Gov. Chris Christie and Carly Fiorina dropped out of the 2016 race earlier this week.
Face the Nation anchor and CBS News political director John Dickerson will be the debate’s main moderator and will be joined by CBS News White House correspondent Major Garrett and The [Rupert Murdoch influenced] Wall Street Journal’s Kimberley Strassel.
The debate will air live on CBS from 9 p.m. to 11 p.m. ET on Saturday. (read more)
That’s what it’s all about!
I’ve lost all respect for that dude Carson, which is kinda sad because I really liked him.
That didn’t work very well for him. I don’t think he’ll do it again.
Wouldn’t it be funny if CBS Sports covered the debate instead of CBS News?? Jim Nantz would tell us how wonderful all the candidates are while Phil Simms mouths banalities. We’d have sideline reporters asking the candidates how they felt. There’d be super slo-mo replays of Trump’s hair. There would be challenge flags and Mike Carey who will guess wrong whether the debate point will be overturned. There would be a halftime show featuring Beyotche and some no-name crotch-grabbers. And a postgame in the Green Room with the winning candidate.
The ratings would double.
You need to make up your mind... is it ‘stick it’ or ‘pound sand?’
“Shouldnât they have placed Robotio next to Trump? I guess they want some sparks between Trump & Bush again. Ratings.”
_____________
Yes, thought the same thing...they also have Kid Rubio right next to Cruz...we can see the fault lines forming...
Hey, just wondering... has Trump done anything for the veterans since he used them to take the heat off for missing the debate?
Who can blame him, though. He’d have had to deal with the Scary Woman.
Only if one is a zombie caught up in a strange spell where people worship aging frat boys and combovers.
You’re forgetting the downside. There would be instant replays and long referee huddles.
The point is we don’t need more media manipulated debates.
Enough already, there are more constructive ways for candidates to spend their time.
OK, I’ll go with pound sand.
They are annoying but right now, it seems to be the only format we have.
And I always enjoy seeing Cruz debate. He’s so darn good at it.
And then I always rush over to Drudge and vote for Trump whether he’s there or not.
napscoordinator is a Trump hack. He knows all Carson is doing is stealing votes away from Cruz to possibly keep his total under Trump’s. Naps knows Trump can’t win in an honest race, can’t get over 50%, and needs spoiler candidates like Carson to skew the vote for him.
I want to believe what he says.
But I just don’t believe he means what he says.
My BS meter is on high alert these days.
Did your candidate raise 6 million bucks for our veterans? I must have missed that, so fill me in.
BTW, Trump didn’t use them, he helped them. How blind can you be?
+1
Yeah, Cruz and Rubio, the master debaters. It’s as if high school never ended.
HAHAHA. I am a Trump supporter which is more respectable then you Cruz Cheaters. You say Trump can only win with Carson.....No New Hampshire proved that a lie. You say Trump can only win through cheating but the only person who has cheated in this primary on both sides is CRUZ. So wake up or go to hell. Either way I don’t care. Cruz is the WORST possible person for the General. He’d make McGovern look successful.
