Management for 74-year-old author of The God Delusion say he suffered âminor strokeâ in UK on Saturday but has already returned home from hospital
But the health scare has caused him to postpone his tour, his management said in a message passed on to ticket holders on Friday.
...By Thursday he had recovered enough to use Twitter, plugging a book called God: The Most Unpleasant Character in All Fiction, for which he had written the foreword.
..A steadfast critic of religion, who nevertheless recently criticised leading UK cinema chains for refusing to screen an advert featuring the Lordâs Prayer, Dawkins has regularly been named one of Britainâs top public intellectuals.

He’ll likely have a death bed Come-to-Jesus realization, just as Christopher Hitchens reportedly did.
I don’t think Dawkins is a bad man, i would not wish him to hell.
He needs prayer.
“SURVEY SAYS——Dickie, you are going to find out real soon now”.
I hadn't heard that one...
Yes, I know it was Dawson but the Devil made me do it.
Prayers for Mr. Dawkins. He will need them before meeting the Supreme Judge. I like how Christopher Hitchens got cancer and then hired Dr. Francis Collins to care for him. Collins wrote Language of God which uses three proofs for the existence of God. When a reporter asked Hitchens why he went to a Christian doctor, Hitchens replied, “Because we have excellent conversations.”
Dawkins is guilty of throwing rocks on the seeds planted by the Lord. He reinforces any depression a person might have. Francis Collins’ books are cheerful and accurate and should be in all the high schools.
Reported by who? You? Christopher Hitchens remained an atheist to his last breath.
A lot of us old timers still adhere to one of Hitchen’s sayings: “Claims require evidence. Extraordinary claims require extaordinary evidence.”
Regardless of how much we might like to believe something is so, out of respect for ourselves and others, we let the facts lead us, and not vice versa.
He didn’t draw a bad hand ...
He chose his table, he declared himself the dealer, he delt the hand he is carrying with the cards face up, and he decided to use a deck with no King, and all the rest are jokers.
Then he sat up front and used his public position to lecture everybody else about how to play the game - while ridiculing and condemning those who chose different rules.
No. I have no sympathy for him, nor those who chose to listen to him and to promote him. But, he is not yet dead. He may yet choose life.
My apologies, I misunderstood his objectively accepting people praying for his recovery, as something more than what it was.
You and others are right. There does not appear to have been a deathbed conversion of Mr. Hitchens.

"Dawkins has described Islam as 'one of the great evils of the world' and said that it is more problematic than Christianity [that's an admission that's hard to extract from most atheists or even just from persons on the left]." "...there's a kind of close-mindedness which is, I think, less present in the former Christendom..." Also he praised Geert Wilders for opposing the Islamization of the Netherlands -- "...on the strength of Fitna [a film] alone I salute you as a man of courage, who has the balls to stand up to a monstrous enemy".
“A lot of us old timers still adhere to one of Hitchenâs sayings: âClaims require evidence. Extraordinary claims require extaordinary evidence.â”
That should justify agnosticism not atheism.
There is no incontrovertible evidence that a “god” does not exist. A dyed in the wool atheist lacks “extraordinary evidence” even more so than a born again Christian.
Wonder how long it takes before he’s on “medical vacation” to get time he won’t get with their crap system?
“I hope he has a speedy recovery. Brilliant man.”
Not really.
I’m talking about his science, not faith or lack therein.
I recommend to you Max Lucado's book Traveling Light in which he makes the point that NO ONE, except the person and God, knows what passes between the dying and God in the last thirty seconds before death. Even if the sinner made no verbal confession, there is always the hope that he or she asked a loving God for forgiveness in those last few seconds before death.
For 5 points, who is this guy?
Saul was a murderer of Christians before his encounter on the road to Damascus.
Prayers up that Mr. Dawkins stops resisting what he knows in his heart is true. He is a human being in the image of God. May he truly acknowledge that reality.
