Heidi Cruz said Wednesday that her husband, Sen. Ted Cruz (R-TX), was showing America "the face of the God that we serve" through his faith-based Republican presidential campaign.
sounds like a line used by a sub-sailor who has been at sea too long and needs to go back to sea on the next tide.
Full Throated Lunatic Fringe Material
Yet they’ll glom onto it if it attacks Ted Cruz.
Looks better than the orange mippet he’s running against.
Not even in the same universe as this lunacy.
I missed that one.......repetition is a good thing.
Or anyone that likes Sanity.
AGREED !!
And it will come across just as phony to a majority of Southerners likely to vote for a Repubican.
TED CRUZ AND THE TITHE
According to personal tax returns released during his 2012 Senate bid, Senator Ted Cruz contributed less than 1% of his income to charity between 2006 and 2010 - a far cry from the 10% most evangelical leaders believe the Bible demands.
Brad Sherman, a pastor at Solid Rock Christian Church in Coralville, Iowa, sat down with Cruz and his wife last July. He described the meeting as "cordial" but did not endorse Cruz. He said he didn't know at the time about Cruz's record of tithing, but once he found out he felt his decision had been validated.
"Character matters," Sherman said. "And tithing is one of the big issues that points to a person's character. The Bible has a lot to say about how we handle money. You know, you can't serve God and mammon⦠I wouldn't judge a candidate's salvation based on that, but I would certainly judge their priorities."
Since Cruz's surge to first place in Iowa, Sherman has spoken with a number of the candidate's Christian supporters, and he said they are often shocked to find out about his tithing history. "I think itâs an issue a lot of evangelicals who are supporting him are unaware of," Sherman said.
"I've never heard the tithing question broached in the context of the election. I wish it were a bigger issue," said Frank Page, the former head of the Southern Baptist Convention. "I think what [a candidate] does in regards to their possessions indicates their caring for people and sensitivity to the commands and dictates of the Lord. But unfortunately, those who do tithe are in the distinct minority, and because of that most people don't bring it up."
McKay Koppins reported in his book, The Wilderness, some who worked closely with Cruz earlier in his career have been puzzled by his recent transformation into a culture warrior. | "He was never particularly religious as far as I knew," said one aide who worked for him in the Texas solicitor general's office. "Iâm not even sure he went to church."
the reality of the situation
I might be wrong, but it seems if one and one's family is considered the face of God then they should be ready to open all aspects of their Christian life to perusal.
It could be that they don’t know what “Right Wing Watch” is. I’ve blasted them for lying about what I write, as they routinely lie and distort what Christians and conservative write and say.
I couldn’t give less of a damn whether or not he tithes.
I am more concerned with the campaign being turned into a jihad.
Cruz appears to suffer from a messiah complex. If the survival of our nation hinges on the manifest destiny of Ted, we are in deep trouble.
This is going to backfire. Big time
Southerners see right through a hypocritical use of religion, so keep it going.
"Southerners see right through a hypocritical use of religion, so keep it going.
Oh, gosh, I hope you're right...
You know, he really does, but it's his followers who relentlessly fuel it.
I think you might be missing a point here - Christians who worship Jesus Christ as the Perfect Man and, indeed, the face of God Himself on Earth, might find this very troubling, to say the least.
When she says “Judeo-Christian”, she is referring to the Old Testament (Torah) and the New Testament (Good News) bible.
This is to draw a distinction between Protestant Christians and the other groups who call themselves Christian (Mormons, Scientologist, Jehovah Witness, etc.) who have their own doctrine and bible.
I think Cruz is doing a real disservice to Christian believers through his hypocrisy and stealth actions, which most people easily see through. It not only turns them off to Cruz but to Christianity and Christ, that is the real tragedy.
>>Judeo-Christian is an oxymoron as Judeo rejected Christ and they do to this day
No, it’s an accurate term given the relationship between the Old and New Testaments.
The Old Testament articulates the Covenant of the Law with Israel. The OT also contains prophecy fulfilled by Jesus, and the OT is referred to by Jesus numerous time.
The New Testament articulates the New Covenant within the repentant and forgiven Body of Christ - which is His Church.
There’s also the matter of Jesus lineage being delivered through the children of Israel.
