WARREN, Mich. - An employee at the General Motors Technical Center in Warren stabbed by someone visiting the plant Wednesday.
The 52-year-old victim was hospitalized and suspect arrested by police - but the valet service supervisor with a valid CPL who pulled his gun to stop the attack, says he was fired.
Didarul Sarder, SP+ Valet Supervisor was heading into work Wednesday morning at the General motors technical center in Warren, when he heard the cry for help.
The lady kept saying 'I'm dying, someone help' and it was just natural reaction," said Didarul Sarder, SP+ Valet Supervisor. "I just see this lady getting stabbed. I only had like half a second to think and I un-holstered my firearm and pointed it at her to drop the knife."
...
Sarder told the woman to freeze until she was arrested by police.
... saved this woman's life."
"I hope so, I hope she makes it," Sarder said. "Maybe those few seconds before the police arrived could be the difference between life and death."
...
The victim, identified as Stephanie Kerr, is in critical condition, and lucky the stabbing didn't go any further, according to city officials. All of which is why Sarder says he was surprised to be fired on the spot by a GM employee, then escorted off the property.
"He said, 'You shouldn't have had a firearm here,'" Sarder said. "'After this is done he needs to be escorted off the property. He's not welcome back here.'
...
Police and Mayor of Warren Jim Fouts say Sarder is a hero who should be honored.
"Had it not been for his quick action and quick thinking, pulling out his concealed weapon, she might have been murdered on site," Fouts said.

“Well whatâs more important company policy or someoneâs life? OBVIOUSLY company policy at GM.”
It IS Government Motors, after all.
Leftist freaks berated me years ago for complaining about their god’s “temporary” takeover.
There are no polite words that would accurately convey the disgust that I feel about this.
heh, that decision was made in my house after we bailed them buttheads out....and was re-inforced after their crappy processes were shown to kill people, by way of faulty ignition barrels...and then they hid behind their bankruptcy in an attempt to shirk their responsibilities.
not hard to make that decision, based on all of that empirical evidence, if ya think about it.
welcome to the club. I drive toyotas.
Oh, all mine weren’t new, but a few were. But for the foreseeable future gm is dead to me. Also, Good on you for making ‘em aware of it.
I hope he gets a gazillion dollars and more job offers than he can shake a stick at. Unless there is more to this story than we see here, I have a feeling this will turn out well for the guy.
I just read the other day that the guy who was walking more than 20 miles to work when people pitched in to help is doing well.
Says he needs to get more exercise because he’s not doing all the walking any more.
Not that I needed yet another reason to never buy Chevrolet.
Because you can’t have an honorable black man with a gun, it doesn’t fit the attorney’s world view.
So...it would have been better to stand around and watch this woman chopped into hamburger?
Who buys Government Motors cars anymore except the Government?
Government Motors is anti-gun, who would have thought..?
I am glad i vowed never to buy a gm piece of sh1t ever again. Run by irrational, paranoid leftist, govt teat sucking morons.
First guess, probably involves a guy the daughter likes the mom doesn’t.
Are there pro bono attorneys that specialize in 2nd Amendment issues?
If anyone knows, please post contact info.
In Wisconsin, any business that posts no gun signs is legally liable for the protection of everyone there.
If they have no security/checking to ensure no one is entering armed, however, you can ignore their sign, as they are not taking their liability seriously and not doing the minimal to keep people safe in their business.
Must have been a high-up “employee” to have the authority to
throw the HERO out. - I suppose GM would have rather had
a woman stabbed to death at their facility.
GM has no common sense. I DO NOT WANT a GM vehicle if that’s
how “smart” they are at GM.
But I guess GM could demand that the vendor he works for not allow him back "if" he violated company policy - a stupid "gun free zone" policy. It appears that he works for SP+

ETA - looks like Mr. Sarder has not been fired and will return to work at the GM facility.
Worker fired for carrying gun on company property given job back
IMO, he should be given a big raise and or promotion from SP+ and a metal from the City of Warren and if GM had any sense, a new car.
Statement from the Mayor of Warren - Jim Fouts:
"I would like to commend Didarul Sarder who probably saved a 52 year old woman from being murdered by quick action. Outside the GM Tech Center this morning he observed a 52 year old female repeatedly being stabbed with a kitchen knife in her back, neck, and abdomen. His quick action using a licensed hand gun on the attacker undoubtedly saved this woman's life. Had he not legally exercised his second amendment rights this woman would probably not be with us today. He is employed by a GM contracted valet service. Right after it happened someone in authority asked him off the premises because he violated company rules with a gun. That was absolutely the wrong response to this hero. However that decision was over-ruled by higher ups and he now has his job back. I hope to honor and reward this good citizen for being a hero in time of need. Hero's should be rewarded not terminated. Didarul is a resident of Warren and a resident that we can all be proud of!"
Interestingly the name Didarul is I think Islamic in origin. Not to say that Mr. Sarder is a practicing Muslim or not, but I just thought it was interesting.
“Who buys Government Motors cars anymore except the Government?”
Exactly. Enjoying my Ford.
This was mentioned on the local news early this morning. THE GUY WAS NOT FIRED...........he was sent home for the remainder of the day but he was not fired......Oh, and he was commended by Mayor Fouts......
