He does not want to run the party, he wants to run the country.

The President IS the leader of the party

I agree. Both of these issues are crucial. I would put immigration slightly ahead. Trump is the only one who made them part of the conversation.

Many college campuses have become like indocrination camps.

and even then it took a while to get momentum.

Oh, the Cruzers had more than a little momentum by the time Trump announced.

I know, I was the guy who repeatedly posted this question beginning last spring;

"Is Ted Cruz himself as mean spirited as his supporters here on FR?"

As a former Walker supporter I know a lot about the Cruzers throwing digested food at opponents.

And for the record, I'm beginning to see evidence that Ted Cruz himself is that mean spirited.

LOL, you must be forgetting how much the establishment has tried to bring Trump down. Only lately have they decided to throw in with Trump, because you are right they hate Cruz, but not because of what you suspect as the reason.

Keep deluding yourself that Cruz is the outsider, and Trump is the establishment.

I’ll say this. If the supporters of Cruz are representative of modern evangelical conservative voters, there is a reason the party tries to run their intolerant asses out of the party every four years.

Also why do you continue to refuse to answer my question?

Do you believe "anchor" babies are "natural born" citizens who will be eligible to be President once they attain the age of 35.

I grew up in a very conservative Christian community. Nine churches in a small town of 2,000.

I learned early on to be careful when doing business with those who wore their Christianity on their sleeve. They aren’t what they first appear to be.

“Without Trump, Cruz would be running away with the nomination as the only true conservative in the race”

Cruz started out as very unpopular and was not expected to do well. Jeb Bush was expected to be the nominee.

Cruz visited Trump and they reached an agreement to work together. Other candidates attacked Trump. Cruz stayed beneath the radar. In an early debate the moderator set up Jeb and Carly Fiorina with free shots at Trump saying that Trump was angry and irresponsible and that Trump did not have the temperament to be president or to be trusted to have his finger on the nuclear trigger.

Had Trump not been in the race the other establishment candidates would have attacked Cruz but Trump took the abuse. And Trump was willing to stand up to Jeb and the well funded establishment candidates. Only when Trump's outsider, anti-Washington message began to resonate did Cruz adopt that message. Trump's message allowed Cruz to give legitimacy to Cruz's claim of outsider status and to use his unpopularity in Washington to his advantage.

Cruz was no longer just someone who was unpopular in Washington, he was now an outsider like Trump.

Without Trump in the race, Cruz would have never opposed the amnesty plans and open border policies that were supported by all other candidates. Cruz would have been just one of many candidates who bragged about how conservative they were.

I like Cruz and think he would be a good president. I think he would be better as a Supreme Court Justice or Attorney General.

You'll have to explain it to me. I was criticized by Cruz supporters months before Trump became a thing. But it was NOTHING compared to what Trump people did.

I don't support any candidate yet. But Trump supporters accused me of supporting Jeb (who I was against long before it was popular), Cruz, and, yes, Walker. (In fact a Trump supporter just last week said I was a huge Walker supporter, which I never was.)

Trump supporters were attacking everyone in site viciously for months before their was any pushback. Cruz supporters were either kind of liking Trump or they were to scared.

So if you complain about Cruz supporters, maybe you should be looking at trump supporters for creating it. Trump supporters had carte blanche to attack everyone who dared to say anything about Trump, before any but a few (yours truly) opposed them.

Well, you weren't around the first half of the year as a Walker supporter, so your ignorance can be forgiven.

Cruzers have been mean spirited, and very personal, for over a year, it's only the target which has changed.

I wonder if Trump had not made a big deal about the word used by the lady, then no one would have said anything about it.

Ironically, Walkers ethanol position was a particularly vicious angle of attack by the Cruzers.

Walker called for a gradual phase-out of the Renewable Fuel Standards.

Trump supporters also like Cruz. Not so with Cruz supporters. Witness the nasty comments here. I say get out of a party where you are not wanted. All media, even Levin and Rush dislike Trump. Very few want him around, he is rude, foul mouthed etc. Fine. Go 3rd party and see how Republicans do without him.

Cruz was against open border policies since his Senate run. Many posts have been on here in the past week showing Cruz talked about sealing the border years ago.

Cruz is also a well-funded candidate, much different than the other conservatives in past years like Santorum and Gingrich. He could’ve defeated the insider easily. Remember Santorum was outspent 6 to 1 by Romney and still won states and came close in others.

Trump getting in is only making it more likely that a RINO wins in the end. He’s taking votes away from Cruz and splitting the “outsider” vote.

Of course.

Has no one had at least one child who has said gleefully, “Mom, Mark just said s**t! ? And every other chance they got to play hall monitor and use a verbotten word? At my house the response they got was “knock it off” but they still tried.

Okay, Trump needs to get out and go third party. Why stick around in a political party that hates you. He owes Republican elites nothing, they give him no credit for anything, only blame.

I have seen people complain that he isn’t presidential because he curses sometimes. He runs his businesses with integrity and the people that work for him bend over backwards to provide him with perfection as he demands it. This video about his plane show some of this character trait. Very good documentary...

Was Trump "University" run with integrity?
