I grew up in a very conservative Christian community. Nine churches in a small town of 2,000.
I learned early on to be careful when doing business with those who wore their Christianity on their sleeve. They aren’t what they first appear to be.

Amen to that. There is an entire cottage industry of "christian" con artists that prey on the weak faithful. I have seen it many times. I have exposed some of these charlatans and was nearly killed for my efforts. I don't really have a litmus test for ferreting them out. If you demand that they acknowledge Christ, they will do it. The foulest of lies. My best defense so far has been "you shall know them by their fruits".
